Northwest Missouri State University placed sixth among MIAA schools and No. 55 in the nation in this year's final LEARFIELD Directors' Cup Standings.
The Bearcats had seven teams reach NCAA postseason play which allowed Northwest to score 351.00 points in the scoring system. The Bearcat cross country/track & field programs accounted for 78.2% of the points (274.50 pts.). Bearcat men's sports tallied 187.00 points, while Northwest women's sports added 164.00 points.
Overall, 15 sports are counted in the final D-II standings, four of which must be women's volleyball and basketball and men's basketball and baseball. The next highest (11 max.) sports scored for each institution regardless of gender, are used in the standings.
The LEARFIELD, Directors' Cup was developed as a joint effort between the National Association of Collegiate Director of Athletics (NACDA) and USA Today. Points are awarded based on each institution's finish in the NCAA Championships.
