Women's tennis selected to compete in NCAA Central Region Tournament

NCAA Central Region – Sioux Falls, S.D.
Monday, May 12 – No. 5 Northwest Missouri State vs. No. 4 Southern Arkansas, 11 a.m.
Tuesday, May 13 – Winner at No. 1 Augustana - 11 a.m.

Monday, May 12 – No. 3 Nebraska-Kearney vs. No. 6 Central Oklahoma
Tuesday, May 13 – Winner at No. 2 Washburn
 
The No. 43-ranked Northwest Missouri State University women's tennis team has been selected to take part in the 2025 NCAA Central Region Tournament.
 
Northwest (15-8 overall) gained the program's 22nd all-time NCAA Tournament appearance for head coach Mark Rosewell. The Bearcat shared the MIAA regular season title and finished as the runner-up in the 2025 MIAA Tournament over the weekend.
 
Northwest is the No. 5 seed and will take on No. 4 seed Southern Arkansas (16-4 overall) in the opening round at 11 a.m. on Monday, May 12, in Sioux Falls, S.D. The winner of the Northwest-Southern Arkansas match will take on the No. 1 seed Augustana Vikings (17-3 overall) in the regional final.
 
The winning team from each regional site will advance to the championship finals in the round of 16. The national finals are set for May 21-25 at Sanlando Park in Altamonte Springs, Fla.
 
Northwest is led this season by all-MIAA performers Marielena Muench, Alva Norberg, Miru Nonaka and Camilla Franzin. Norberg tops the squad with a 20-6 singles record and a doubles record of 13-1 with Nonaka. Muench has gained 14 singles wins and 12 doubles victories with Franzin.
 
The Northwest women have advanced eight times past the regional round in 1997, 2003, 2004, 2005, 2006, 2007, 2008 and 2019.
