Six Bearcats gain MIAA softball honors

Six members of the Northwest Missouri State University softball team were recognized for their efforts in the 2025 season as the MIAA announced its annual awards.

Filger (Liberty, Mo.) gained second-team all-MIAA status in the outfield for the second consecutive season as she led the Bearcats in batting average (.385), hits (67) and stolen bases (17). Filger completed her career as Northwest's all-time leader in batting average (.397) and accumulated 213 hits to rank No. 7 on the school's all-time hits chart. Filger put up 21 multi-hit games as a senior.
 
Cuevas (Garden Grove, Calif.) tallied an honorable mention spot as a freshman at second base. Cuevas batted .336 and committed only three errors while starting 48 games as second base. Cuevas upped her batting average to .378 in MIAA games with 28 hits in conference play. Cuevas put together 11 multi-hit games as a first-year player.
 
Love (Lee's Summit, Mo.) regained all-MIAA honorable mention status in 2025 to go along with the same honor in 2023. Love played in 49 games and made 48 starts in left field. Love ranked second on the team in batting average (.366) and RBI (35). She led the team in slugging percentage (.535), doubles (13), triples (5) and total extra-base hits (19). Love had 20 multi-hit games in 2025.
 
Pieper (Roca, Neb.) was named as an all-MIAA honorable mention selection for the second straight season and for the third time in her career. Pieper led the team in home runs (4) and RBI (36). Pieper started all 49 games at first base and hit .320 on the season. Pieper has been credited with 1,114 career putouts to rank No. 2 in Bearcat history. Pieper ranked second in the MIAA in fielding chances (370) this season.
 
Streigle (Knoxville, Iowa) earned all-MIAA honorable mention status after leading the Bearcats in wins (10), complete games (9), shutouts (4) and strikeouts (71). Streigle has put up three straight seasons of 10 or more pitching victories. Streigle went 10-8 with a 2.91 earned run average in 105 2/3 innings pitched.
 
Todd (Park Hills, Mo.) collected her first MIAA Gold Glove award at shortstop. As a true freshman, Todd started all 49 games at shortstop and committed only three errors in 174 chances. Todd led the MIAA with 118 assists. She helped turn eight double plays. Todd was a part of a Bearcat defense that ranks No. 9 in the country in fielding percentage (.975).
 
The Bearcat softball team completed its 2025 season with a mark of 22-27 overall and 9-15 in MIAA play. Northwest tied for ninth place in the final MIAA standings.
