ST. JOSEPH, Mo. – The Northwest Missouri State University softball team gained a split of a doubleheader at Missouri Western Saturday to close out the MIAA regular season.
Missouri Western won the opening game, 4-2. Northwest took the second game, 4-0.

Northwest moved its record to 22-27 overall and 9-15 in MIAA play. Missouri Western had its 10-game win streak snapped in the second game as the Griffons are 31-20 overall and 12-12 in MIAA action.
The Bearcats tied for ninth place in the final MIAA standings with Fort Hays State and Nebraska-Kearney. However, Northwest finished third in the three-team tiebreaker and FHSU and UNK were able to secure the final two slots for the 2025 MIAA Tournament.

GAME ONE
Missouri Western opened the doubleheader with a 4-2 win over Northwest.

After two scoreless frames, both squads lit up the scoreboard in the third inning.
Kaylee Cords led off the top of the third with the first hit of the game for the Bearcats.
Riahn Pinkerton replaced Cords on the base paths on a fielder's choice.
Curstin Todd singled through the right side to move Pinkerton to second.
Lillie Filger drove the ball to left field for a two-run triple, her first of the season and fifth of her career, to give Northwest a 2-0 lead.

The Griffons's first four batters reached via hits in the fourth on a double, triple and two singles. MWSU came through with a two-out single to plate the go-ahead run for a 3-2 advantage after three frames.

Bearcat starter
Erika Gore tossed the first three innings before she was relieved by
Olivia Moyer. Gore allowed three runs on five hits. She walked one and struck out one Griffon batter.

In the bottom of the fourth, Moyer walked four of the first five batters she faced. The walks allowed MWSU to score a run and increase the lead to 4-2.

Moyer settled in after the rocky start and retired the final eight batters she faced.

GAME TWO
Bearcat starting pitcher
Jadyn Streigle kept the Griffons off balance with a three-hit shutout to earn a split of the doubleheader as Northwest picked up a 4-0 victory

Streigle improved to 10-8 on the season as she put up her ninth complete game and fourth shutout in 2025. Streigle gained her 33rd career pitching win to move her into a tie for the 10th-most wins in school history. It is her 11th career shutout, which ranks No. 9 in school history.

Streigle threw 109 pitches and struck out five Griffon batters. She allowed two walks.

The Northwest offense generated 10 hits and scored four runs despite leaving eight runners on base.

Northwest scored first in the second game.

Grace Lubben to stake Northwest to a 1-0 lead in the second inning.

Skylar Pieper lifted a two-out double to left center that scored
Alexis Brown to extend Northwest's lead to 2-0 in the top of the fifth.

Northwest tacked on two runs in the seventh to take a 4-0 lead. The Bearcats scored their first run of the seventh when Pieper laced her third hit of the game. Pieper lifted a base hit just beyond the infield to score
Alexis Brown from third to give the Bearcats a 3-0 lead.
Omara Love raced across on a wild pitch to put Northwest on top, 4-0.
