MARYVILLE, Mo. – The Northwest Missouri State baseball team (8-8, 2-3 MIAA) secured its third series win of the 2025 season with a 15-12 victory over Washburn in game two at Bearcat Baseball Field.
Northwest jumped out to an early 7-0 lead before Washburn mounted a comeback, scoring seven unanswered runs in the seventh and eighth to eventually take a 12-11 lead heading into the bottom half. As
Dylan Hufft drew a bases loaded walk,
Kaehukai Young ripped a two-out, bases-clearing triple to seal the victory.
Ashton Neuman powered the Bearcat offense with a season-high four RBIs, going 1-for-3 with a three-run homer and three walks.
Parker Griffith notched his first home run of the season in the second inning, while
Logan Brasel picked up the win and
Brock Steggall secured his first save with a scoreless ninth.

Jaren Guck set the tone early, striking out the side in the second, holding Washburn to one hit through an inning and a half. Northwest broke through in the bottom of the second when Griffith launched a solo home run to center.
Chester Brooks followed with a single, and after a double from Bowers, Neuman crushed a three-run shot to right to give the Bearcats a 4-0 lead.
Griffith drove in Young with an RBI single to extend the lead to 5-0. Northwest kept the pressure on, tacking on two more runs to stretch the advantage to 7-0 after three complete.
Washburn chipped away in the fourth when Blake Scott belted a three-run homer, cutting Northwest's lead to 7-3. The Bearcats responded in the fifth as
Jacob Selock delivered a two-run single, and Hufft followed with a two-RBI hit, pushing the lead back to 11-5.
Momentum swung in the seventh and eighth as the Ichabods rallied for seven total runs, taking a 12-11 lead. Northwest refused to back down, loading the bases with two outs in the bottom of the eighth. Hufft drew his bases-loaded walk, tying the game, before Young delivered the go-ahead runs, ripping a three-run triple to secure the win.
