Men's tennis runs win streak to four with 5-2 win at SBU

BOLIVAR, Mo. - The Northwest Missouri State University men's tennis team ran its win streak to four in a row with a 5-2 road dual win Saturday over Southwest Baptist University.

Northwest took its season record to 7-5 and captured its fifth road victory of the season.

For only the fifth time this season, the Northwest men captured the doubles point to take a 1-0 lead. The No. 2 doubles team of Antonin Leborne and Dominik Wijntjes gained a 6-1 win, while the No. 3 team of Rafal Bednardzuk and Vini Rodrigues scored a 6-4 victory. The duo of Wijntjes and Leborne have won four straight doubles matches in dual play and sit at 8-1 on the year.

No. 29-ranked Wijntjes gained a three-set win over No. 62-ranked Marcio Silva at No. 1 singles. Wijntjes tallied the victory by scores of 7-5, 3-6 and 6-3. Wijntjes won his fourth straight singles matches and moved to 10-2 for the dual season. Wijntjes is 12-3 overall on the year in singles play. He is 4-2 at No. 1 singles and 6-0 and No. 2 singles.

Bednardzuk posted a straight-sets win over NO. 64-ranked Alejandro Sanchez at No. 2 singles, 6-4 and 6-3.

No. 70-ranked Leborne went the distance for a three-set triumph over Alejandro Bravo at No. 4 singles - 4-6, 6-0 and 6-4. Leborne has won six consecutive singles matches and his 10-1 in dual play.

Niccolo Chiriatti provided a 6-2, 6-2 win at No. 6 singles over SBU's Federico Riolo. Chiriatti gained his fourth straight dual singles win in the match. Chiriatti is 9-6 overall this season, including 6-5 in dual action.

Northwest will be at home for two dual matches this week against Southern Arkansas (Thursday, 11 a.m.) and Nebraska-Kearney (Saturday, 1 p.m.).
