ST. LOUIS, Mo. - The Northwest Missouri State University men's tennis team dropped a 4-3 decision to the University of Missouri-St. Louis Tritons Sunday afternoon.
The Bearcats took an early advantage by securing the doubles' point. Northwest's No. 2 doubles duo of
Vini Rodrigues and
Rafal Bednarczuk posted a 7-5 win. The Bearcat pairing at No. 3 doubles in
Antonin Leborne and
Dominik Wijntjes gained a 6-1 victory.
UMSL was able to find some magic in the third set in singles' play. The Tritons captured three-set wins at No. 2, No. 3 and No. 6.Â
The dual came down to the No. 6 singles matches between
Hugo Alvarez Gonzalez and UMSL's Joan Garros. Garros was able to hold off Alvarez Gonzalez in the third-set super-tiebreaker, 11-9.
The Northwest men are 3-2 on the season.
