The Northwest Missouri State University women's tennis team came in at No. 47 in this week's Intercollegiate Tennis Association's national team rankings.
The Bearcat women's and men's tennis squads had five individuals ranked as well. On the women's side,
Alva Norberg is ranked No. 67 in singles with the doubles pairing of
Marielena Muench and
Camilla Franzin ranked No. 31 in the nation. From the men's standpoint,
Dominik Wijntjes is ranked No. 29 in the country and
Antonin Leborne is ranked No. 70.
Norberg is 8-3 overall in singles play with a 6-2 mark in dual action. Norberg is 4-2 at No. 3 singles and 2-0 at No. 4 singles.
Muench and Franzin have gone 4-4 at No. 1 doubles in dual play this spring.
Wijntjes has won two consecutive singles matches and is 10-3 on the year. Wijntjes is 8-2 in dual action, which includes a perfect 5-0 mark at No. 2 singles.
Leborne has won four straight singles matches and is 8-3 on the year. Leborne is 8-1 in dual play. He is 5-0 at No. 5 singles, 2-0 at No. 4 singles and 1-1 at No. 3 singles.
The Bearcat women are 4-4 this season, while the Northwest men are 5-5 this year.
Northwest will play its first home matches of the season Friday at 1 p.m. against new MIAA member Arkansas-Fort Smith. Action will take place on the Grube Courts as Rosewell Tennis Complex on the Bearcat campus.
