BEARCATS GEAR UP TO WRAP REGULAR SEASON AT HOME
The Northwest Missouri State University men's basketball team (6-20 overall, 4-13 MIAA) will wrap up play in the regular season at home in Bearcat Arena against the Newman Jets (14-12 overall, 7-10 MIAA) and the Emporia State Hornets (9-17 overall, 6-11 MIAA).
    Northwest and Newman will tangle Thursday at 7:30 p.m., while the Bearcat and Hornets will meet Saturday at 3:30 p.m.

SENIOR DAY SATURDAY
Northwest will honor four senior men's basketball players prior to Saturday's final home game against Emporia State.
    Seniors Byron Alexander, Emorie Knox, Luke Moustakas and Spencer Schomers will all play their final home games on Saturday vs. the Hornets.
    Members of this senior class helped the Bearcat men's basketball program capture four MIAA regular season titles and two NCAA Div. II national championships. The quartet have combined to win 128 games for the Bearcats.

ALL-TIME VS. NEWMAN
Northwest is 5-1 all-time vs. Newman. The Bearcats are 5-0 vs. the Jets since they joined the MIAA.

ALL-TIME VS. EMPORIA STATE
Northwest holds a 52-27 lead in the all-time series with Emporia State.
    The Bearcats have won five in a row after dropping its previous three straight to the Hornets. Northwest scored a 65-54 victory at Emporia State on Dec. 5.
    Overall, Northwest has won 20 of the last 24 meetings between the two programs.

KPI TO DETERMINE SEEDING
With an unbalanced schedule in the MIAA this year, the league has determined it will use FaktorSports.com's KPI ratings to determine qualification and seeding for the 2025 MIAA Basketball Tournament.
    Northwest is ranked No. 13 in the latest KPI MIAA standings.
    The top 10 teams will qualify for the 2025 MIAA Tournament set for March 5-9 at Municipal Auditorium in Kansas City, Mo.

SEARCHING FOR HOME WIN
Northwest is looking for its first home win of the season and the first home win of head coach Matt Keeley's Bearcat coaching career.
    Northwest is the only NCAA Div. II men's basketball team to have not recorded a home win this season. Northwest is 0-8 this season at Bearcat Arena.
    New Orleans, at 0-10, is the only NCAA Div. I home team to have not won a game this season. There are seven NCAA Div. III programs that are winless at home this season.

BACK-TO-BACK WINS
Northwest has won back-to-back games for the first time this season for first-year head coach Matt Keeley. The Bearcats gained an 81-74 win at Northeastern State and backed it up with a 64-56 road triumph over Arkansas-Fort Smith.

BYERS HELPS BEARCATS WIN TWO STRAIGHT ON THE ROAD
Junior guard Ja'Vion Byers averaged 17.5 points per game, 6.0 rebounds per contest and dished out 2.5 assists as Northwest snapped a 10-game losing skid and won both games on the road trip. Byers made all nine of his free throws in the two victories.
    Byers tallied 14 points, six rebounds, two assists and two steals in an 81-74 victory at Northeastern State. Byers was one of four Bearcats in double-figure scoring vs. the RiverHawks.
    Byers notched his second career 20-point scoring game with a 21-point performance Saturday in a 64-56 win at Arkansas-Fort Smith. Byers scored nine of his 21 points in a decisive 14-3 second-half run that turned a two-point Bearcat lead at 33-31 into a 47-34 advantage. Byers buried a trio of three-pointers and all six of his free throws against the Lions.

FIVE ROAD WINS
Northwest registered five road wins this season. Northwest went 5-7 on the road this year.
    Northwest collected back-to-back road wins over Northeastern State (81-74) and Arkansas-Fort Smith (64-56) to be 4-6 in MIAA road games.
    Northwest also recorded an 83-80 non-conference road win at Central Washington on Dec. 16.

KEEPING THE LIONS AT BAY
Northwest held Arkansas-Forth Smith to 17 first-half points - the lowest scoring output allowed in a first half this season. Emporia State put up 27 first-half points on Dec. 5 for the previous first-half low allowed by the Bearcats this season.
    Northwest held UAFS to two made field goals in the final 13 minutes of the first half.
    Northwest's 13-point halftime lead was the largest advantage the Bearcats have had at halftime this season – besting the previous mark of nine (38-29) at Central Missouri Jan. 9 in Warrensburg, Mo.

HITTING SHOTS AT NSU
Northwest shot 48.4% from the floor at Northeastern State for the fifth-best shooting performance of the season by the Bearcats.
    Northwest is 6-6 when shooting a higher percentage than its opponent. The Bearcats are 0-14 when shooting worse than the opposition.

Northwest collected a season-high 43 rebounds in its 81-74 win at Northeastern State.
    Its previous season-high was 42 vs. Concordia-St. Paul on Nov. 24 in Fayette, Iowa.

NORTHWEST SNAPS 10-GAME LOSING STREAK AT NSU
Northwest ended the program's longest losing streak (10 games) since the 1976 season with an 81-74 victory at Northeastern State.
    The 10-game losing streak was the fourth-longest in program history.

RARE LOSING TERRITORY
Northwest's 20 losses rank tied for the most single-season defeats in program history.
    The most games lost by a Bearcat squad came when Northwest went 2-20 in the 1964-65 season for then head coach Dick Buckridge.
    Northwest has dropped 13 MIAA games - the most since the Bearcats came up short 14 times in league play in the 2010-11 season under head coach Ben McCollum.

TWO DOUBLE-DOUBLES IN WIN AT NSU
The Bearcats had two players put up double-doubles in the same game for the first time since the 2021 NCAA Div. II national championship game against West Texas A&M in Evansville, Ind. (March 27, 2021).
    Byron Alexander (15 points, 10 rebounds) and Jack Ratigan (18 points, 13 rebounds) put up double-doubles in Northwest's 81-74 win at Northeastern State.
    The last time Northwest had two double-doubles in the same game came when Ryan Hawkins (31 points, 18 rebounds) and Wes Dreamer (19 points and 11 rebounds) did it against West Texas A&M in the NCAA championship game won by Northwest, 80-54.
    Alexander has collected three career double-doubles, while Ratigan has put up both of his career double-doubles this season.

NO FOULS HERE
Northwest ranks No. 1 in the MIAA in fewest fouls called against them this season.
    Northwest is being whistled for 14.4 fouls per game, which ranks No. 34 in the country.

TRIPLE THREAT FROM DEEP
Northwest is the only MIAA program that has three players with 40 or more made three-pointers this season.
    Freshman Marcus Glock has drained 48 from three-point range. Senior Luke Moustakas has canned 45 three-pointers, while senior Emorie Knox has buried 40 from distance.

FRESHMAN GLOCK IS LOCKED, LOADED FROM EVERYWHERE
Freshman Marcus Glock has been a sharpshooter for the 'Cats.
    Glock is averaging 8.7 points per game and has drained a team-best 48 three-point shots. Glock is shooting 44.4% from three-point range.     
    In MIAA games only, Glock has made 38-of-85 three-pointers (44.7%) to rank No. 3 in the conference in 3-point field goal percentage.
    Glock ranks tied for seventh in the MIAA in 3-pointers made (38) in conference games only.

GLOCK'S STREAK SNAPPED VS. GORILLAS
Freshman Marcus Glock had his streak of 17 straight games with at least one three-pointer made snapped in an 89-77 loss to Pittsburg State. Glock went 0-of-3 from three-point range against the Gorillas.
    Glock has made at least one three-pointer in 20 games, including 16 of 17 MIAA contests. He has made two more more three-pointers in 15 contests this season.
    Glock has made two or more 3-pointers in 12 of his 17 MIAA games this season. He has drained three or more on six occasions in league play.
    Glock made a season-best five three-pointers at Fort Hays State. Glock missed his first two attempts against the Tigers, but then proceeded to make five of his last six shots from distance at Gross Memorial Coliseum as he led the Bearcats with 18 points.

RATIGAN STUFFING HIS STAT SHEET
Jack Ratigan secured his second double-double of the season with a stat-stuffing night at Northeastern State. Ratigan tied his career highs in points (18), rebounds (13) and blocked shots (3). Ratigan made 8-of-9 shots from the floor in an 81-74 win at Northeastern State.
    Ratigan ranks No. 3 in the MIAA in blocked shots per game (1.2). Ratigan has swatted 31 shots this season. He has blocked at least one shot in 18 of the 26 games this season.
    Ratigan ranks second on the Bearcats in rebounds per game (5.7). Ratigan ranks No. 14 in the MIAA in rebounds per contest.

LUKE GAINS FIRST CAREER DOUBLE-DOUBLE
Senior Luke Moustakas collected his first career double-double with 15 points and a career-high 10 rebounds at Rogers State.
    Moustakas ranks second on the team with 45 made three-pointers. He is averaging 10.1 points per game.

BYRON NABS 3RD CAREER DOUBLE-DOUBLE
Senior forward Byron Alexander scored 15 points and grabbed 10 rebounds in Northwest's 81-74 win at Northeastern State. Alexander corralled his third career double-double and his 500th career rebound in the victory over the RiverHawks.
    Alexander ranks No. 10 in the MIAA and leads the Bearcats in rebounds per game (6.0).
    Alexander has played in 148 career games (46 starts) and has scored 854 points as a Bearcat. He has recorded 509 rebounds and has tallied 105 steals.
    Alexander is the active NCAA Div. II leader in games played (148). Alexander ranks No. 3 on Northwest's all-time games played chart.
    Alexander ranks No. 10 in field goal percentage (.621) on the NCAA Div. II active career list.

KNOX LEADS THE WAY
Senior guard Emorie Knox tops the team in scoring at 11.5 points per game and assists at 3.96 assists per game.
    Knox ranks third on the squad with 40 made three-pointers.
    Knox dropped in a season-high 29 points against Emporia State. Knox tallied 24 of his 29 points in the second half and he connected on all five of his second-half three-point attempts.Altogether, Knox drained six three-pointers in the 65-54 win at Emporia State.
    The 29-point performance from Knox is tied for the ninth-highest scoring performance this season by an individual in an MIAA game.

Junior Ja'Vion Byers put up his seventh double-figure scoring game of the season with a 21-point effort in a 64-56 win at Arkansas-Fort Smith. It was his second 20-point scoring game of the season after a 23-point performance against Pittsburg State.
    Senior Luke Moustakas gained his 18th career double-figure scoring game with a 14-point effort at Northeastern State.

BYERS PUTS UP 23 VS PSU
Junior guard Ja'Vion Byers lit up the scoresheet against Pittsburg State with a career scoring high.
    Byers led a first-half comeback against Pittsburg State. Northwest trailed by 23 points, 35-12, just 10 minutes into the game. Byers sparked a 24-0 run with a three-point barrage of four triples to give Northwest a 36-35 lead.
    Byers finished the game with 23 points, four rebounds, two assists and a steal.

HOME COURT ADVANTAGE IN BEARCAT ARENA
Since the start of the 2011-12 season, Northwest has compiled a home mark of 176-23, including a tally of 120-17 in MIAA play.
    Northwest has lost eight games at home this year. It is the most home losses since a 7-7 season in 2010-11 for then head coach Ben McCollum.

TOO MANY MISCUES AT UCO
Northwest committed a season-high 26 turnovers that led to 23 steals for Central Oklahoma in an 82-55 loss in Edmond, Okla.
    It is the most turnovers in a game this season by an MIAA team. It is the most turnovers by an MIAA squad since Missouri Southern turned it over 26 times against Central Oklahoma on Dec. 7, 2023.
    It was the most turnovers by a Bearcat team since they had 32 turnovers at Missouri Southern (Jan. 20, 2010).

JOHNSON MAKES FIRST CAREER START
Junior transfer guard Jadin Johnson made his first career start at Central Oklahoma (Feb. 5). Johnson has made 10 appearances this season for the Bearcats and is averaging 1.8 points per game.
    Johnson played in seven games at Old Dominion University in the 2022-23 season, but did not make a start.

RAINING IN TRIPLES
Northwest sank 11 three-pointers against No. 1-ranked Washburn to reach double-figures in three-pointers made for the fifth time this season.
    It is the second time this season Northwest has buried 10 or more three-pointers in consecutive games.

Senior guard Luke Moustakas tied his career-high with 21 points and made five three-pointers in an 80-69 loss to No. 1-ranked Washburn.

MOOSE FOR THE WIN
Senior Luke Moustakas made a three-pointer with :04.9 left to lift the Bearcats to a 63-62 road win over the Central Missouri Mules.
    Moustakas had missed his previous five tries from three-point range before head coach Matt Keeley drew up the game-winner in a timeout with :14.9 left for him.

JADIN BREAKS OUT
Junior transfer guard Jadin Johnson scored a career-high nine points and grabbed a career-best five rebounds in 18 minutes of action at Washburn.
    Johnson also knocked in the first two three-pointers of his collegiate career.
    Johnson entered the game against the No. 2-ranked Ichabods having played in six games and had scored five points on the season.

MOALA MAKES FIRST START
Sophomore Trey Moala made his first career start at Central Missouri. Moala had come off the bench in his previous 39 collegiate contests.

RATIGAN FROM DEEP
Sophomore forward Jack Ratigan made his first career three-pointer in Northwest's 63-62 win at Central Missouri.
    As the shot clock wound down in the final minute of the first half, Ratigan rained in a triple from the top of the key to give Northwest a 38-29 lead the break.
    Ratigan posted eight points, nine rebounds, three blocked shots and a career-best six assists against the Mules.

NORTHWEST HELD UNDER 40
Northwest was limited to 39 points in a 58-39 loss Thursday at home to Fort Hays State.
    Northwest was held under 40 points for the first time since the 1959-60 season when the Bearcats scored a 39-38 win over Southeast Missouri State.

1ST 20-POINT LOSS SINCE 2010
For the first time in 153 games, Northwest lost a game by 20 points or more in a 72-50 setback vs. Augustana to begin the 2024-25 season.
    The last time the Bearcats lost a game by 20 points or more came Jan. 20, 2010, when Missouri Southern posted an 88-63 win in Joplin, Mo.
    Northwest had won 153 consecutive games when the final scoring margin is 20 or more points.

    The Bearcats received five first-place votes from media members and one first-place vote from an MIAA head coach.
