Koroma, Hartley set records as Bearcats close Gorilla Classic in style

PITTSBURG, Kan. – The Northwest Missouri State indoor track and field squads wrapped up the 10th Annual Russ Jewett Indoor Gorilla Classic in style, with two more athletes etching their names into the record books. 
 
Gorilla Classic 
(M) 60m Hurdles: Senior Moses Koroma raced to a school-record time of 7.79 in the finals, securing a second-place finish. His time not only surpasses the Division II provisional qualifying standard but currently ranks as the second-fastest mark in the nation.

(M) 60m Dash: Junior Dominic Sedlacek captured the event title with a blazing 6.74 in the final. Sedlacek had already made history in the prelims, setting a new program record with a 6.71. 

(M) Mile: Sophomore Grayson Tapp and junior Barnabe Gabillet both notched provisional qualifying times in a tightly contested race. Tapp claimed second place in 4:07.99, while Gabillet followed closely in third at 4:08.35.

(M) 800m Run (Invite): Sophomore Charlie Kinslow placed 13th in the invitational section, clocking 1:52.46.

(M) 800m Run (Open): Junior Bret Beard finished sixth overall with a time of 1:53.85.

(W) Mile: Sophomore Bree Mauro placed seventh in the women's mile, crossing the line in 5:04.35.

(W) 3000m Run: Sophomore Mayson Hartley etched her name in the record books, shattering the previous school record by five seconds with a time of 9:49.67 to secure a runner-up finish. Junior Whitney Post also competed in the event, finishing 24th in 10:24.26.
