NORTHWEST SET TO DEFEND BEARCAT ARENA
The Northwest Missouri State University men's basketball team (4-18 overall, 2-11 MIAA) will look to break through with a home win this week with matchups against Missouri Southern and Pittsburg State in Bearcat Arena.
Northwest will square off against the Missouri Southern Lions (10-12 overall, 5-8 MIAA) at 7:30 p.m. Thursday.
On Saturday, Northwest will take on the Pittsburg State Gorillas (13-9 overall, 9-4 MIAA) at 3:30 p.m. in Bearcat Arena.
PINK OUT GAME
Northwest will host its annual Pink Out game Thursday against Missouri Southern.
ALL-TIME VS. LIONS
Northwest holds a 45-24 advantage over Missouri Southern in the all-time series between the two programs. Northwest has won 13 straight games in the series with Missouri Southern.
Northwest has captured seven consecutive victories over Missouri Southern in Bearcat Arena. Northwest is 12-1 vs. MSSU in the last 13 meetings in Maryville.
ALL-TIME VS. GORILLAS
Northwest owns a 75-63 lead over Pittsburg State in the all-time series between the two schools. Northwest claimed a 78-65 win over Pittsburg State in last year's MIAA Tournament championship game in Kansas City.
Northwest has registered 17 consecutive wins over PSU. Pittsburg State's last win in the series came in the 2015 MIAA Tournament semifinals at Municipal Auditorium in Kansas City.
The Bearcats have won 15 straight contests with the Gorillas in Bearcat Arena. PSU's last win in Maryville came Jan. 15, 2005 when the Gorillas scored a 72-58 triumph over the Bearcats.
EIGHT-GAME LOSING STREAK; LONGEST SINCE 1976
Northwest has lost eight games in a row heading into Thursday's home game vs. Missouri Southern.
The eight-game losing streak is the fifth-longest in program history. It is the longest losing skid since Northwest lost nine in a row in the 1975-76 season. Northwest dropped nine consecutive games from Jan. 2, 1976 to Jan. 31, 1976. Northwest finished 7-17 in 1975-76 under head coach Bob Iglehart.
The Bearcats last double-digit losing streak was an 11-game skid that included the final eight games of the 1974-75 season and the first three games of the 1975-76 season.

RARE LOSING TERRITORY
Northwest had not lost 18 games in a season since the 1974-75 campaign when the Bearcats finished 6-18 overall.
The most games lost by a Bearcat squad came when Northwest went 2-20 in the 1964-65 season for then head coach Dick Buckridge.
KPI TO DETERMINE SEEDING
With an unbalanced schedule in the MIAA this year, the league has determined it will use FaktorSports.com's KPI ratings to determine qualification and seeding for the 2025 MIAA Basketball Tournament.
Northwest is ranked No. 13 in the latest KPI MIAA standings.

SEARCHING FOR HOME WIN
Northwest is looking for its first home win of the season and the first home win of head coach
Matt Keeley's Bearcat coaching career.
Northwest is the only NCAA Div. II men's basketball team to have not recorded a home win this season. Northwest is 0-6 this season at Bearcat Arena.
The last time Northwest lost six home games in a season came in the 2010-11 season when the Bearcats dropped seven home decisions in Ben McCollum's second season at the helm of the program. Northwest went 7-7 at home in the 2010-11 campaign.

Since the start of the 2011-12 season, Northwest has compiled a home mark of 176-21, including a tally of 120-15 in MIAA play.

TOO MANY MISCUES AT UCO
Northwest committed a season-high 26 turnovers that led to 23 steals for Central Oklahoma in an 82-55 loss in Edmond, Okla.
It is the most turnovers in a game this season by an MIAA team. It is the most turnovers by an MIAA squad since Missouri Southern turned it over 26 times against Central Oklahoma on Dec. 7, 2023.
It was the most turnovers by a Bearcat team since they had 32 turnovers at Missouri Southern (Jan. 20, 2010).

Northwest is holding the opposition to 31.5% made shots from three-point land, which ranks third in the MIAA.

Trey Moala made his first career start at Central Missouri. Moala had come off the bench in his previous 39 collegiate contests.
RATIGAN FROM DEEP
Sophomore forward
Jack Ratigan made his first career three-pointer in Northwest's 63-62 win at Central Missouri.
As the shot clock wound down in the final minute of the first half, Ratigan rained in a triple from the top of the key to give Northwest a 38-29 lead the break.
Ratigan posted eight points, nine rebounds, three blocked shots and a career-best six assists against the Mules.
THREE ROAD WINS
Northwest has registered three road wins this season.
Northwest gained its third road victory of the season with a 63-62 triumph at Central Missouri.
The Bearcats are 2-3 on the road in MIAA play having scored wins at Emporia State (W, 65-54) and at Central Missouri (W, 63-62).
Northwest also recorded an 83-80 non-conference road win at Central Washington on Dec. 16.
