The Northwest Missouri State University track and field teams will begin the 2025-26 indoor season by hosting the Mel Tjeerdsma Classic at Hughes Fieldhouse on Saturday, Dec. 6. Field events will begin at 11 a.m., with running events scheduled to begin at 11 a.m.

Entry for spectators will be through the upper East side doors ONLY. $5 admission will be taken at the door via CARD ONLY. 
 
Head coach Brandon Masters enters his eighth season with the Bearcat Track & Field program. The veteran-led squad will feature 17 athletes with indoor senior-year eligibility left. 

At the 2025 NCAA Indoor Championships, the Bearcat men's team secured fifth overall, the highest placement since 1987, along with earning 20 USTFCCCA All-America indoor honors. The Northwest women's team placed 36th. Additionally, three school records were set during the championship.
 
During the 2024 Mel Tjeerdsma Classic, the Bearcats posted several record-setting marks, two Hughes Fieldhouse records and three meet records.
