THIS WEEK'S ACTION
The Northwest Missouri State University women's basketball squad (9-3 overall, 2-0 MIAA) returns to MIAA play to ring in 2026 with road trips to No. 6 Fort Hays State (Thursday, 5:30 p.m.) and to Nebraska-Kearney (Saturday, 2 p.m.).

ALL-TIME VS FORT HAYS STATE
Fort Hays State holds a 26-11 edge in the all-time series. FHSU has won 14 of the last 15 matchups with Northwest.
    The Bearcats are 2-14 at Gross Memorial Coliseum with their last win coming Dec. 30, 2006 in a 70-62 win over the Tigers.
    Head coach Austin Meyer is 1-13 vs. FHSU.

ALL-TIME VS UNK LOPERS
Nebraska-Kearney owns an 18-8 lead in the all-time series. UNK swept the season series last year after Northwest had won two of three matchups in 2023-24.
    Head coach Austin Meyer is 3-12 vs. UNK.

EIGHT-GAME WIN STREAK
Northwest's eight-game winning streak ranks tied for the 12th-best active win streak among NCAA Div. II women's basketball teams.  It ranks as the top streak in the MIAA.
    Northwest's eight-game winning streak is the longest in program history since the Bearcats had an 11-game win streak in the 2010-11 season.    
    The Bearcats won 11 consecutive games in the 2010-11 season (Dec. 8, 2010 - Jan. 26, 2011).
    The school record for consecutive wins is 20 in a row to begin the 1983-84 season (Nov. 18, 1983 - Feb. 1, 1984).

MIAA REGULAR SEASON WIN STREAK
The Bearcat women have won four consecutive MIAA regular season games dating back to the 2024-25 season.
    Northwest closed the 2024-25 MIAA season with home wins over Newman and Emporia. The Bearcats opened 2025-26 league play with victories over Missouri Western and Emporia State.

MIAA'S TOP FG DEFENSE
Northwest owns the league's top field goal defense at 34.4%. Northwest ranks No. 20 in the nation in field percentage defense.
    Emporia State was the first team to shoot better than 40.0% from the floor against the Bearcats this season.

    Northwest has limited eight of its opponents to less than 60 points scored.

REBOUNDING MARGIN
Northwest ranks No. 3 in the MIAA in rebound margin (+7.6). Northwest put up a +30 rebound margin (62-32) in its 73-36 win over Baker.
    Northwest's 62 rebounds ranks as the fourth-highest single-game MIAA total this year.

LOPREATO TOPS SQUAD IN SCORING
Junior Andrea Lopreato leads the Bearcats in scoring and ranks No. 7 in the MIAA at 14.8 points per game.
    Lopreato dropped a Bearcat single-game scoring record of 40 points in a 75-64 win over Sioux Falls (Nov. 14) at Civic Arena in St. Joseph, Mo.
    Lopreato tops the squad in steals (23) and free throws made (48). Lopreato was credited with a career-high six steals in Northwest's 90-63 win over Buena Vista.

FROM DOWNTOWN
Freshman Bailey Birmingham ranks second in the MIAA in three-pointers made (28). She ranks No. 2 in the league in three-point field goal percentage (.394).
    Birmingham has made at least one three-pointers in 10 of the 11 games she has played. She has made two more three-pointers in eight contests.
    She ranks No. 2 in the team in scoring at 11.3 points per game.

MAAS SWATS SHOTS, GRABS BOARDS
Sophomore Sadie Maas is Northwest's top shot blocker (22) and rebounder (7.8 rpg).
    Maas ranks No. 20 in the nation and No. 2 in the MIAA in blocked shots (22). She ranks fourth in the MIAA in total rebounds (93).
    Maas put up a career-high 13-rebound effort against Wayne State. Maas possesses seven career 10-plus rebound performances as a Bearcat, including five this season. Maas has garnered three consecutive double-figure rebound games with 12 vs. Missouri Western, 10 vs. Emporia State and 10 vs. Baker.
    Maas has collected 70 career blocked shots to rank No. 10 on Northwest's all-time blocked shots list. Maas has blocked at least one shot in 33 games as a collegiate player.

Freshman Boston Wand recorded a career-high 16 points vs. Baker.
    Wand ranks No. 13 in the MIAA in rebounds (72). Wand has produced a pair of 10-rebound games (Lincoln, William Jewell).

YOSTEN PUTS ON A PERFORMANCE
Redshirt freshman Avery Yosten has scored in double figures in four consecutive games including back-to-back 16-point career-high scoring efforts against Baker and Buena Vista.
    Against Baker, Yosten put up 16 points and career-highs in rebounds (8) and blocked shots (2).
    Yosten is averaging 7.5 points per game.

HAUCK FINDS THE SHOOTING ZONE
Sophomore Kirsten Hauck has buried 14 of her last 29 shots from three-point land over the last six games.
    She began the season shooting 3-for-18 from beyond the three-point arce in her first six games.
    Hauck has knocked in 17 three-pointers and his averaging 7.6 points per contest.

DOUBLE-DOUBLES COMING IN BUNCHES
Northwest produced three double-doubles in its first two MIAA games vs. Missouri Western and Emporia State.
    Sadie Maas produced back-to-back double-doubles with 12 points and 12 rebounds at Missouri Western and 14 points and 10 rebounds in an overtime win over Emporia State.
    Andrea Lopreato collected her first career double-double with 12 points and 11 rebounds vs. Emporia State.

SCORERS OF NOTE
Redshirt freshman Avery Yosten notched her fourth consecutive double-figure scoring game with a career-high 16 points vs. Buena Vista.
    Junior Andrea Lopreato secured her ninth double-figure scoring game with 17 points vs. Buena Vista.
    Freshman guard Bailey Birmingham registered her sixth double-figure scoring game of the year with a team-high 19 points vs. Buena Vista.
    Sophomore Sadie Maas notched her sixth career double-figure scoring game with 10 points and nine rebounds vs. Buena Vista. It is the third time this season Maas has reached 10 or more points.

MEYER IN OVERTIME
Head coach Austin Meyer is 7-3 in overtime games since taking over the program in 2018. Meyer and the Bearcats have won four consecutive overtime decisions.

100 WINS FOR MEYER
Head coach Austin Meyer recorded his 100th career coaching victory in Northwest's Nov. 22 win over Lincoln.
    Meyer is the third Bearcat women's coach to reach 100 or more victories joining Wayne Winstead (311) and Gene Steinmeyer (189). Meyer has posted 104 career wins entering this week's action against Baker and Buena Vista.

DRE-LO DROPS 40, SCHOOL RECORD VS. SIOUX FALLS
Junior transfer Andrea Lopreato set the Bearcat single-game scoring record with 40 points against Sioux Falls at Civic Arena on Nov. 14.
    Lopreato became the first Bearcat women's basketball player to score 40 points in a game. It tied for the 14th-best single-game scoring mark in league history.
    Lopreato is one of six NCAA Div. II players to put up a 40-point scoring game this season.
    She also set the single-game school records for free throws made (19) and attempted (21) in the game. Lopreato set the MIAA single-game record with 19 made free throws vs. Sioux Falls.
