LINCOLN, Neb. – The Northwest Missouri State University men's and women's indoor track teams took nine competitors to the Husker Holiday Open and brought home a trio of individual titles.
Campbell Barta notched first-place status in the women's jump.
Kennedi Cline blew past the field in the women's 200-meter dash.
Marie Dea posted the nation's fourth-best time and an NCAA Div. II provisional time in the women's 800-meter run to give Northwest three victories on the day.
Long Jump (W) – Sophomore
Campbell Barta claimed the meet crown with her best jump at 5.61m (18'5"), which came on her second leap of the event. Sophomore
Anjelena Carder placed seventh as she posted her best jump on her first try of the day (4.91m – 16'1.5"). Barta topped competitors from Nebraska, Omaha and UMKC.
Long Jump (M) – Sophomore
Frank Sparks recorded a second-place finish with his best mark coming on his fifth try – 6.99m (22-11.25). Sparks landed five jumps – all more than 22'0" in Friday's competition. He was edged out by Nebraska junior Luke Noland (7.04m – 23-1.25) for the title.
800 Meters (W) – A trio of Bearcats had the track to themselves, and sophomore
Marie Dea took advantage of the opportunity to run an NCAA Div. II provisional time of 2:10.23 to take first-place honors. Dea's time ranks as the fourth best in NCAA Div. II and the top time among MIAA runners this year. Senior
Kendall Tietjen placed second with a time of 2:15.25, while Carder took third (2:21.30).
200 Meters (W) – Senior
Kennedi Cline put on a blazing effort and gained a first-place finish with a time of 24.91. Cline ran in the second heat in lane three as she put up the top time of the day for the women. Sophomore
Krysta Abel placed seventh as she ran in the first heat with a time of 25.61.
High Jump (M) – Junior
Jeremiah Rainey-Dunlap took sixth place as he cleared heights at 1.88m (6'2") and 1.93m (6'4") but could not clear the bar at 1.98m (6'6").
Triple Jump (M) – Sophomore
David Parker II secured a second-place performance in the triple jump. Parker's best mark came in the second round (13.96m – 45'9.75"). UMKC's Hunter Ross won the event with a jump of 14.32m (46'3.75").
