Meet Information: MIAA Championships
The meet will be held at the Four Oaks Golf Course in Pittsburg, Kan., with the women's 6K race is scheduled to begin at 10 a.m., followed by the Men's 8K race at 11 a.m. Gates will open at 8 a.m., with the national anthem scheduled for 9:45 a.m. An award presentation will take place at the finish line after the protest period following the women's race. The top ten individuals will earn First Team All-MIAA honors and runners who place 11th through 20th will receive All-MIAA Honorable Mention honors.
Admission for the 2025 MIAA Cross Country Championships will be collected at the spectator parking entrance. Fee will be either $10 per person or $20 per car, whichever is lowest. Gates and spectator parking will open at 8 a.m. Spectators must enter the park from the east end, at the intersection of Memorial Drive and McNally Road, and will be directed to park along McNally Road in Lincoln Park, near the ball fields. McNally Road will be set up as a one-way street running from the east.
Last season the Bearcat men secured their first MIAA Championship since 1972, which was due in part by a record-setting performance from individual champion
Grant Bradley, whose run stands as the second-fastest finish in MIAA history. Bradley now serves as a graduate assistant for the team. The Bearcats were also led by returning runners
Drew Atkins who placed fourth and
Riley Witt who placed 18th. Both Atkins and Witt will look to improve their personal bests, having previously set them at last years 2024 MIAA Championships.
The Bearcats last competed at Pittsburg State for the MIAA Championship meet in 2013 when Coach
Wick Cunningham, who is leading the team for the fourth season, was competing for Northwest as a student where he placed 50th in the men's 8K. After the 2025 MIAA Championship meet, the NCAA Central Region meet will be held on Nov. 8 in Joplin, Mo. The NCAA Championship meet is set for Nov. 22 in Kenosha, Wis.
