MEET INFORMATION
The No. 23 Northwest Missouri State University women's cross-country team is set to hit the course again as they prepare for the 2025 MIAA Championships this Saturday in Pittsburg, Kan., hosted by Pittsburg State.
Most recently the Bearcat women competed at the Arkansas Chile Festival where they placed ninth overall and third among Division II schools. All of Northwest's top finishers set new personal bests in the 5K run with
Olivia Bakker coming in at 17:28.4,
Lydia McGlocklin coming in at 17:28.9,
Mayson Hartley coming in at 18:00.7,
Lou Maquaire coming in at 18:05.5,
Jessa Cassity coming in at 18:43.7, finishing 30th, 31st, 65th, 69th, and 116th, respectively. The Northwest women are ranked 23rd nationally and fourth in the central region.
Meet Information: MIAA Championships
The meet will be held at the Four Oaks Golf Course in Pittsburg, Kan., with the women's 6K race is scheduled to begin at 10 a.m., followed by the Men's 8K race at 11 a.m. Gates will open at 8 a.m., with the national anthem scheduled for 9:45 a.m. An award presentation will take place at the finish line after the protest period following the women's race. The top ten individuals will earn First Team All-MIAA honors and runners who place 11th through 20th will receive All-MIAA Honorable Mention honors.
Admission for the 2025 MIAA Cross Country Championships will be collected at the spectator parking entrance. Fee will be either $10 per person or $20 per car, whichever is lowest. Gates and spectator parking will open at 8 a.m. Spectators must enter the park from the east end, at the intersection of Memorial Drive and McNally Road, and will be directed to park along McNally Road in Lincoln Park, near the ball fields. McNally Road will be set up as a one-way street running from the east.
Last season the Bearcat women placed fourth overall with returning runners
Lydia McGlocklin having placed fifth and receiving her first team all-MIAA recognition and
Mayson Hartley finishing 20th and receiving honorable mention all-MIAA honors.
Olivia Bakker has been the top Bearcat finisher in races twice this fall. The Bearcat women have won three MIAA champion titles in their history, having won three years back-to-back in 1995, 1996, and 1997.
The Bearcats last competed at Pittsburg State for the MIAA Championship meet in 2013 when Coach
Wick Cunningham, who is leading the team for the fourth season, was competing for Northwest as a student where he placed 50th in the men's 8K. After the 2025 MIAA Championship meet, the NCAA Central Region meet will be held on Nov. 8 in Joplin, Missouri. The NCAA Championship meet is set for Nov. 22 in Kenosha, Wis.
