Northwest golfers tied for 8th after two round at Midwest Classic

WARRENSBURG, Mo. – The Northwest Missouri State University women's golf team worked through 36 holes on Monday at the Midwest Classic held at Mules National Golf Course.
 
Northwest took seven players with two competing as individuals on the par-70 course that played 5,564 yards. Northwest is tied for eighth place with Missouri Western in a field of 14 teams. Northwest shot team scores of 298 and 306. The 298 in the first round tied for the seventh-best single round in program history.
 
Lexi Bartley opened play with a first-round 73 that featured birdies at No. 13, No. 14 and No. 16. Bartley followed it up with a 75 in the second round and is tied for 16th in the field at eight-over par. Bartley fired an even-par score of 35 on the back-nine in Monday's second round. Bartley tallied a birdie on the par-3 15th hole.
 
Clara Peake is tied for 16th at eight-over par through 36 holes. Peake fired a 75 with 13 pars in the first round and came back with a team-best 73 in the second round. Peake claimed her lone birdie of the day on the par-5 13th hole in the second round. Peake is tied for third in the field with 26 pars through the first 36 holes.
 
Lauren Briggs matched Bartley's 73 in the first round that included 15 pars and three bogeys. Briggs added a second-round 76 which included birdies at No. 4 and No. 8. Briggs sets in 21st place at nine-over after two rounds.
 
Carleigh Reoh shot 77 in the first round that included a birdie at No. 12. Reoh posted a second-round 82 and sits in 55th place after 36 holes.
 
Delayney Medlyn recorded a birdie on her opening at No. 16 en route to posting a first-round score of 81. Medlyn collected two more birdies in the second round at No. 10 and No. 11 as she posted a score of 82. Medlyn is in 70th place with a total of 163 strokes through 36 holes.
 
Shaylee Ficken and Kayla Moline are competing as individuals in the 88-player field. Ficken gained two birdies in the first round at No. 3 and No. 10. Ficken added three more birdies in the second round at No. 9, No. 10 and No. 17 for a 76. Ficken completed the first two rounds at 157 (+17). Moline added a second-round birdie at the par-4 ninth hole.
 
The Bearcats will complete the three-round tournament Tuesday with the final 18 holes.
