'Cats look to halt losing skid on road at UCM, Washburn

'CATS LOOK TO SNAP LOSING SKID AT UCM, AT WASHBURN
The Northwest Missouri State University men's basketball squad (3-10 overall, 1-3 MIAA) will look to halt its current three-game losing skid with a road trip to Central Missouri and Washburn.
    Northwest will travel to Warrensburg, Mo., for a Thursday clash at 7 :30 p.m. with the Central Missouri Mules, before heading over to Topeka, Kan., for a 3 p.m. Saturday meeting with Washburn.

MULES READY FOR THE 'CATS
Central Missouri is 7-6 overall and 2-2 in MIAA play. The Mules recorded a three-point win at Emporia State on Saturday, 72-69.
    The Mules notched a 59-57 victory over Nebraska-Kearney. UCM dropped a double-overtime matchup with Fort Hays State while also falling to No. 2-ranked Washburn.

ALL-TIME VS. UCM
Central Missouri holds a 128-102 advantage over Northwest in the all-time series between the two programs.
    Northwest has won seven in a row and 16 of the last 17 matchups. Northwest has recorded a win on three straight trips to Warrensburg.

NO. 2-RANKED ICHABODS ROLLING IN MIAA PLAY
The No. 2-ranked Washburn Ichabods are 13-0 overall and 4-0 in MIAA play.
    The Ichabods have won all four conference games this season by 14 points or more. Washburn's scoring margin is +23.7 in four MIAA games this season. Central Oklahoma is second in the league in scoring margin at +6.3 per game in MIAA action.


ALL-TIME VS. WASHBURN
Washburn holds a 66-59 lead over Northwest in the all-time series.
    The Bearcats have captured nine consecutive wins in Lee Arena. Washburn's last home win (80-67) over Northwest came Feb. 9, 2013.
    Northwest has won 21 of the last 24 meetings between the two schools.
    Overall, Northwest has defeated Washburn seven straight times.

IT'S BEEN AWHILE SINCE 10 Ls
Northwest sits at 3-10 with double-digit losses for the first time since the 2012-13 season.

THREE-POINT DEFENSE
Northwest is holding the opposition to 29.6% made shots from three-point land, which ranks first in the MIAA.
    Northwest ranks No. 25 in the nation in three-point field goal percentage defense.
    Bearcat opponents have made 86-of-291 shots from three-point range through 13 games.

NOT MANY WHISTLES
Northwest ranks No. 2 in the MIAA in fewest fouls called against them this season.
    Northwest is being whistled for 14.8 fouls per game, which ranks No. 35 in the country. Washburn leads the league in fewest fouls per game (14.2).

FIVE BEARCATS IN DOUBLE FIGURES VS. SOUTHWESTERN
The Bearcats had five players reach double-figure scoring in their 80-76 overtime loss at home to Southwestern (Kan.) before the holiday break.
    It is the first time this season the Bearcats have had five players score 10 or more points in a game.
GLOCK IS LOCKED IN
Over his last nine games, freshman Marcus Glock has been locked in with his shooting, scoring touch.
    Glock is averaging 10.0 points per game and has drained 18 of his last 27 3-point shots (66.7%).
    Overall from the field in his last nine games, Glock has made 27-of-47 field goals (57.4%).

RATIGAN RATIFIES A DOUBLE-DOUBLE
Sophomore forward Jack Ratigan put up his first career double-double with an 11-point, 13-rebound performance against Southwestern (Kan.).
    Earlier this season, senior guard Emorie Knox recorded his first career double-double with 10 points and 10 assists in Northwest's 74-57 win over Chadron State.

SCORING NOTES
Senior Emorie Knox gained his seventh career 20-point scoring game with a 24-point outburst against Nebraska-Kearney.
    Knox has tallied 10 or more points in six straight games and 10 times total this season.
    Knox has put up 35 career double-figure scoring games at Charleston Southern (7), Ouachita Baptist (18) and Northwest (10).
    Sophomore Trey Moala put up a career-high 15 points vs. Nebraska-Kearney. It was Moala's third double-digit scoring game as a Bearcat

KNOX LEADS THE WAY
Senior guard Emorie Knox tops the team and ranks No. 7 in the MIAA in scoring at 15.2 points per game.
    Knox is averaging 18.0 points per game through four MIAA contest, which ranks No. 4 in the league.
    Knox is tied for the team lead with 23 three-pointers made.
    Knox has stepped up his three-point shooting in MIAA play having made a team-best 11-of-21 shots from distance.     
    Knox dropped in a season-high 29 points against Emporia State. Knox tallied 24 of his 29 points in the second half and he connected on all five of his second-half three-point attempts.Altogether, Knox drained six three-pointers in the 65-54 win at Emporia State.
    The 29-point performance from Knox is tied for the highest scoring game this season by an individual in an MIAA contest. Missouri Southern's Ethan Blackmon also scored 29 points against Northeastern State on Dec. 17.

RATIGAN SWATTING SHOTS
Jack Ratigan ranks No. 4 in the MIAA in blocked shots per game (1.38). Ratigan has swatted 18 shots this season. He has blocked at least one shot in 10 of the 13 games this season.
    Ratigan also tops the Bearcats in rebounds per game (6.3). Ratigan ranks No. 5 in the MIAA in rebounds per contest.
    Ratigan tallied a career-high 18 points in a 70-66 loss to Missouri Western. Ratigan buried 8-of-10 shots from the field against the Griffons.

MOOSE DIALED IN FROM DEEP
Luke Moustakas leads the squad in three-pointers made (23). Moustakas ranks third on the team in scoring (9.2 ppg).
    Moustakas poured in a career-high 21 points and sank five three-pointers in Northwest's 74-57 victory over Chadron State.

SPENCER CAN SCORE TOO
Spencer Schomers ranks second on the team in scoring at 10.1 points per game through eight contests. He ranks third on the team with 14 made three-pointers.
    Schomers put up a career-high 18 points on 6-of-9 shooting against Chadron State.
    Schomers injured an ankle at Emporia State and has sat out the last five games.

LORD BYRON REIGN CONTINUES
Senior forward Byron Alexander collected a career-high 11 rebounds against Nebraska-Kearney.
    Alexander has played in 136 career games (35 starts) and has scored 759 points as a Bearcat. He has recorded 432 rebounds and has tallied 92 steals.
    Alexander is the active NCAA Div. II leader in games played (136).
    Alexander ranks No. 10 in field goal percentage (.613) on the NCAA Div. II active career list.
