Bearcat baseball debuts 2025 season in Colorado

The Northwest Missouri State baseball team is set to open its 2025 season with a four-game series with Regis University at the Regis Baseball Field in Denver, Colo. 
 
The Bearcats and Rangers will each open their seasons on Friday at 2 p.m. On Saturday, Northwest and Regis will play two, starting at noon, with the second game starting at 3:30 p.m. The series finale will take place on Sunday, with first pitch at 1 p.m.
 
Northwest and Regis have played four times in history, standing equal at 2-2. In its last matchup, dating back to Feb. 7, 2015, the Rangers held on for a 9-7 neutral site win in Alva, Okla. 
 
ABOUT THE RANGERS
Regis finished last season with a 32-24-1 record and 20-12 in the RMAC. The Rangers fell to Colorado Mesa in the RMAC Tournament championship, yet earning a berth to the NCAA South Central Regional. 

Regis was picked to finish second in the RMAC in its 2025 Baseball Preseason Coaches' Poll, collecting 56 total points and receiving one first-place vote. The Rangers are led by second-year head coach Pat Jolley. Regis returns a plethora of All-RMAC players: Catcher Adam Paniagua, outfielders Maxim Fullerton & Garrett Rede, and infielder Clayton Conn. 
 
JANDRON TAKES OVER
First-year head coach Tony Jandron takes the reigns as only the fourth leader in the last 42 seasons of Bearcat baseball. This is the first head coaching job for Jandron after previously serving as an assistant coach at Illinois State, Central Michigan, Northwood and the College of DuPage.

Jandron added a pair of assistant coaches in Theo Bartolomeo and Javier Martinez to the Bearcat coaching staff.
 
WILLIAMS NAMED PRESEASON D2 BASEBALL ALL-AMERICAN
Northwest Missouri State University senior Ryan Williams was been named a D2 Baseball Preseason All-America selection, announced Friday. Williams (Kansas City, Mo./Liberty HS) gained a spot on the D2 Baseball Third-Team All-America list.
 
LAST SEASON
  • With 54 home runs last season, Northwest has etched a new record for most long balls hit during a single season in program history. 
  • The Bearcats accumulated 498 hits during the 2024 season, which ranks No. 7 in program history. 
  • Northwest drew 208 walks last season, tying for fifth all-time in program history. 
  • Northwest produced the fifth-most runs scored in a single season and in RBI (332). 
  • The Northwest pitching staff was counted for 405 strikeouts last season, which ranks No. 2 in program history, only trailing the 2018 season's 410 strikeouts. 

WHAT TO LOOK FOR IN 2025
  • After notching its first 20+ win season in five years, Northwest returns All-America performer Ryan Williams, who became just the ninth Bearcat baseball player to do so since 2000. Williams led Northwest in batting average (.391), slugging percentage (.690), hits (72), runs (50), doubles (18), total bases (127) and walks (48). He also swatted 11 home runs to rank second on the team. Williams also secured first-team all-region honors and third-team all-MIAA status in 2024.
  • Graduate catcher Brady Miles played in 42 games last season, starting all but one. Miles tallied 38 hits, eight long-balls, seven doubles and brought in 30 RBI's. 
  • Graduate infielder Jacob Selock returns for his final season, after notching seven homers, seven doubles and a triple during the 2024 season. Selock collected 34 hits and brought in 32 RBI's. Selock played in 46 games, starting in 45. 
  • Senior infielder Alex Bowers rounded off the 2024 season with a .318 batting average, recording 28 hits (four doubles and two home runs). 
  • Senior southpaw George Fisher appeared in 11 games, starting in seven. Fisher recorded 33.1 IP, holding opposing teams to a .264 batting average. 
  • Junior pitcher Brock Steggall appeared in 17 games last season, making one start. Steggall tallied the Bearcats' fourth-most innings pitched with 45.2, to go along with a 6.11 ERA and 34 strikeouts. 
  • Senior transfer Dylan Hufft comes in from the University of Nebraska, as an infielder. Last season with the Huskers, Hufft played in 21 games, making five starts. Hufft hit .278 with an RBI and four runs scored. 
 
Northwest will take a veteran-led squad into the 2025 season, with six graduate players and 11 seniors on the roster. The Bearcats' signed seven incoming freshman to the 2025 class.
