Bearcat T&F captures trio of event titles at Bob Teel Invitational

COLUMBIA, Mo. – The Northwest Missouri State indoor track and field squads captured three event titles amidst heavy Division I competition at the Bob Teel Invitational, held on the campus of the University of Missouri. 
 
Northwest was one of only three non-Division I teams, alongside Missouri Southern and Washington (Mo.), to compete at the Bob Teel Invitational. The meet featured a strong lineup of Division I programs, including Eastern Illinois, Lindenwood, Memphis, Missouri State, Murray State, Southern Illinois University-Edwardsville, Kansas City, Western Illinois, and Missouri.
 
Field Events:
(W) Long Jump: Campbell Barta leaped 5.61 meters (18-05) to bring home third place. Kyah Luhring claimed tenth, posting a final mark of 5.29 meters (14-04.25). 
 
Running Events:
(M) 60-meter Hurdles: Hill and Hannah Hatzenbuehler placed ninth and 11th, respectively. Hill crossed the line at 9.17, as Hatzenbuehler finished at 9.26. 

(W) 60-meter Hurdles: Moses Koroma continued his impressive indoor season, securing another event title with a time of 8.08, narrowly edging out the runner-up, who finished at 8.09. Freshman Frank Sparks followed closely in third, recording a time of 8.39. Notably, Koroma's record-setting performance at the Coach Richard Alsup Open ranks as the third-fastest time in the MIAA this season.

(M) 400-meter Dash: The Bearcats dominated the event, which featured strong Division I competition. Truman Hare claimed the crown with a blazing time of 47.37, currently the fifth-fastest time in the nation and third best in the MIAA this season. Logan Arellano secured second place, finishing at 48.17. Keith Griffin III (49.02) and Christian Lanphier (49.81) rounded out the top Bearcat performances, placing fifth and sixth, respectively.

(W) 400-meter Dash: Chloe Saenz recorded a Div. II provisional time, earning second place with a mark of 55.30. Jadyn Barnes followed in fifth at 55.86, while Anjelena Carder claimed eighth with a time of 57.30. Saenz's time, achieved at the Coach Richard Alsup Open, currently stands as the fastest in the MIAA this season. Behind her, teammates Melanie Roland (55.91) and Barnes (56.11) hold the second and third-fastest times in the MIAA, both also achieved at the Alsup Open.

(M) 60-meter Dash: Dominic Seldacek claimed an event crown with a blazing 6.86 time. 

(W) 60-meter Dash: Lexie Gilbert placed tenth, crossing the line at 7.81. 

(M) 800-meter Run: Two Bearcats placed inside the top five. Charlie Kinslow led the charge with a third-place finish, crossing the line at 1:52.74, as Bret Beard placed fifth at 1:54.05. 

(W) 800-meter Run: Marie Dea continued her outstanding freshman campaign with a second-place finish in the 800-meter run, clocking in at 2:14.52. Bailey Blake secured fifth place with a time of 2:15.81. Notably, Dea holds the fastest time in the MIAA this season, a 2:10.31 performance achieved at the Coach Richard Alsup Open.

(W) 200-meter Dash: Melanie Roland finished fifth in the 200-meter dash with a time of 24.76, just three-hundredths of a second shy of a provisional mark. Lexie Gilbert followed in ninth place with a time of 25.11. Roland's time ties teammate Chloe Saenz for the third-fastest mark in the MIAA this season.

(W) Mile: Whitney Post (4:57.72) and Mayson Hartley (5:01.91) took the sixth and eighth spots, respectively. Post's time ranks as the third-fastest time in the MIAA this season. 

(M) 4x400-meter Relay: The quartet of Christian Lanphier, Bentley St. John, Gavyn Monday and Bret Beard took second place at 3:17.61. 

(W) 4x400-meter Relay: The team of Chloe Saenz, Jadyn Barnes, Anjelena Carder and Melanie Roland put up the third-fastest time, clocking in at 3:43.33 – tops the MIAA and sits as the fourth-fastest in school history. The teams' time currently sits at No. 3 across Div. II.

Northwest gears up for the Washburn Open next Friday and Saturday (Jan. 31 & Feb. 1) at the Washburn Indoor Athletic Facility in Topeka, Kan. Combined events will begin at 11 a.m. on Friday, as they will resume at 10 a.m. on Saturday.
