FAYETTE, Iowa - The Northwest Missouri State University volleyball team put on a block party in a 3-1 road win over the Upper Iowa University Peacocks.
The Bearcats recorded 19 team blocks, which ranks as the fourth-highest single-match total in program history. Senior
Abby Brunssen led the way with 15 blocks (14 assisted) and
Ella Caffery chipped in with 11 blocks. The 19 team blocks ranks as the third-highest single-match total for a four-set match in NCAA Div. II play this season.
Northwest won by set scores of 24-26, 27-25, 25-16 and 28-26. Northwest has won three straight matches and five of its last six to move to 5-4 on the year. Upper Iowa fell to 5-5 on the season.
Brunssen gained her first career double-double with 11 kills to go along with her team-high 15 blocks.
Ella Caffery secured her first double-double of the season and 10th of her career as she produced 28 assists with 11 blocks.
Payton Kirchhoefer secured a team-best 13 kills and
Olivia Dir tallied a team-high 15 digs.
Northwest will take on Winona State Saturday at 11 a.m.
