The Northwest Missouri State University volleyball squad enters week two of its slate of matches by taking part in the Outback Invitational in Pensacola, Fla. The University of West Florida will serve as the tournament host. The two-day event will take place at the UWF Field House.

The Bearcats began play last weekend at the Augustana Classic in Sioux Falls, S.D. The Bearcats went 1-3 at the Sanford Pentagon with their lone victory coming over South Dakota Mines in four sets.
 
Florida Tech is off to a 4-0 start after going undefeated at the Redderson Invitational in Greenwood, S.C. The Panthers only dropped one set in recording wins over Tusculum (3-0), Lander (3-1), Clark Atlanta (3-0) and North Greenville (3-0). It will be the first meeting between Northwest and Florida Tech on the volleyball court.
 
Wingate is receiving votes in this week's AVCA Top 25 poll. The Bulldogs are 4-0 on the year after opening up with a perfect weekend at the Coker Cobra Classic in Hartsville, S.C. The Bulldogs won all four matches in three-set sweeps against Belmont Abbey, Francis Marion, West Virginia Wesleyan and USC Aiken. Northwest and Wingate have not met previously in volleyball.
 
Spring Hill will be competing in Pensacola for the second straight weekend after opening up with four losses in the SpringHill Suites Invitational. The Badgers lost matches to Oklahoma Baptist, No. 11 Southwest Minnesota State, Wheeling and No. 20 West Florida. The Badgers captured only one set against Wheeling in their action last weekend. Saturday will make the first ever meeting between Northwest and Spring Hill.
 
West Florida dropped one spot to No. 21 in this week's AVCA Top 25 poll. The Argonauts went 3-1 at the SpringHill Suites Invitational in Pensacola. West Florida tallied victories over Wheeling (3-1), Spring Hill (3-0) and Oklahoma Baptist (3-0. UWF dropped a three-set sweep to No. 11-ranked Southwest Minnesota State last Friday. West Florida holds a 4-1 lead in the all-time series with Northwest.

The Bearcats are led by 13th-year head coach Amy Woerth. Woerth captured her 200th career coaching victory last season to become the program's all-time wins leader.
 
Northwest's roster is composed of seven seniors, three juniors, four sophomores and four freshmen. All four Bearcats that captured all-MIAA honors last season return including first-team selection Abby Brunssen, second-team pick Avery Kemp and honorable mention performers Ella Caffery and Kyah Luhring.
 
Senior Abby Brunssen gained a spot on the Augustana Classic All-Tournament Team. She posted 51 kills (3.64 kills/set) in four matches at the Sanford Pentagon in Sioux Falls, S.D. Brunssen tallied a career-high 20 kills in Northwest's 3-1 win over South Dakota Mines on Saturday. Brunssen posted three matches with double-digit kill totals. She also tallied 13 total blocks in 14 sets of action.
 
Senior Olivia Dir put up a team-best 60 kills, 56 digs and recorded three double-doubles at the Augustana Classic. Dir averaged 4.29 kills per set, 4.00 digs per set and hit .203 in the four matches. Dir had 13 kills and 17 digs vs. Northern State. She posted 19 kills and a career-high 22 digs vs. Augustana. She finished up the weekend with 17 kill and 13 digs in a 3-1 win over South Dakota Mines.

Senior setter Natalie Laiolo captured a pair of double-doubles at the Augustana Classic. Laiolo had 24 assists and 13 digs vs. Northern State. She tallied 23 assists and 15 digs in a 3-1 win over South Dakota Mines. Laiolo averaged a team-best 6.07 assists per set at the Augustana Classic.
 
Senior Kristen Ford eclipsed the 1,000 career dig mark at the Augustana Classic. Ford has posted 1,022 career digs in 94 matches as a Bearcat. Ford put up 14 digs vs. Augustana and a season-best 17 digs in the victory over South Dakota Mines. Ford is averaging 3.01 digs per set in 340 career sets.
 
Senior Kyah Luhring secured a team-high four service aces at the Augustana Classic. Luhring was credited with 40 digs (2.86 digs/set) in the tournament.
