Blake Morgan and
Reece Smith repeated as first-team Academic All-America® honors in men's cross country/track & field. The 2023-24 Academic All-America® men's track & field/cross country teams were selected by College Sports Communicators.
Morgan (Kirksville, Mo./Kirksville HS) registered a 3.97 GPA in biomedical sciences. Smith (Garner, Iowa/Garner-Hayfield-Ventura HS) has notched a 3.95 GPA in biomedical sciences. Both Morgan and Smith were first-team Academic All-America® honorees in 2023.
Morgan notched five All-America honors in the high jump as a Bearcat. Morgan was a two-time outdoor All-America honoree and a three-time indoor All-America recipient. Morgan ranks No. 2 in school history in the indoor high jump (7'0.5") and No. 4 in the outdoor high jump (7'0.25").
Smith was a seven-time indoor/outdoor All-America performer for Northwest. He claimed two national championships (2022 & 2023 3,000m steeplechase) in the NCAA outdoor competition. Smith also notched seven MIAA titles, which included three consecutive 3,000m steeplechase crowns in 2022, 2023 and 2024. Smith owns school records in the mile run (indoors), 3,000m run (indoors), 3,000m steeplechase (outdoors) and 5,000m run (outdoors).
The Division II Academic All-America® program is financially supported by the NCAA Division II national governance structure to assist the College Sports Communicators with handling the awards fulfillment aspects for the 2023-24 Division II Academic All-America® program.
