Cavagna, men's 4x400 relay smash school records at Loper Twilight

KEARNEY, Neb. -- The Northwest Missouri State University outdoor track and field squads concluded its weekend competition in Nebraska at the Loper Twilight meet, where Enrico Cavagna and the men's 4x400-meter relay team set new school records. 

Luisarys Toledo, Lydia McGlocklin, Cavagna and the 4x400-meter relay team of Prince Griffin, Gavyn Monday, Logan Arellano and Truman Hare emerged as event champions at the Loper Twilight meet. Cavanga made history by securing Northwest's second sub-21 second time in the 200-meter dash, setting a school record with a time of 20.86 seconds.


400-meter dash (M): Zach Pittman finished in 16th place with a time of 50.28 seconds. 


100-meter dash (M): Cavagna finished in 13th place, crossing  the line at 10.54 seconds. 


400-meter hurdles (W): Luisarys Toledo secured first place in the event with a time of 59.96 seconds. Toledo's time of 59.89 seconds from the Concordia Twilight on May 10 stands as the second-fastest in Bearcat history. Jaedy Commins finished fourth with a time of 1:01.51. 


400-meter hurdles (M): Matt Goeckel claimed tenth place with a final time of 57.84 seconds.


200-meter dash (M): Cavagna posted a school-record time of 20.87 seconds in the event, now sitting at No. 19 in Div. II this season. Cavagna and E.J. Falkner (2005) have the only 200M dash times that are under 21 seconds in school history. Pittman (23.12) and Goeckel (23.88) placed 29th and 30th. 


800-meter run (W): Lydia McGlocklin set the pace with a provisional time of 2:09.67. McGlocklin's fastest time in the event stands at 2:09.10, achieved at the Concordia Twilight, ranking her at No. 19 in Division II. Bailey Blake clinched fourth place with a time of 2:20.96.


1500-meter run (M): Nate Mueller finished in third place with a time of 3:56.38. 


4x400M Relay (M): Northwest's team consisting of Prince Griffin, Gavyn Monday, Logan Arellano and Truman Hare took the event crown with a school record time of 3:06.32. The team's time breaks the school record held since 1984 (3:06.37). 


Northwest will prepare for the 2024 NCAA Div. II Outdoor Track & Field Championships on Thursday, May 23 - Friday, May 25, held at the campus of Emporia State University in Emporia, Kan.
