Women's tennis claims No. 3 seed in MIAA tournament

KANSAS CITY, Mo. – The stage is set for the 2024 MIAA Women's Tennis Championship. The postseason tournament returns to Edmond Center Court in Edmond, Okla., May 3-5.
 
The top six teams from the regular season will meet at Edmond Center Court to compete for the 2024 MIAA Championship title and the Association's automatic berth into the NCAA postseason.
 
The opening matches are scheduled for 1 p.m. on Friday, May 3, with the semifinal matches set for 10 a.m. on Saturday, May 4. The tournament's championship match is set for 10 a.m. on Sunday, May 5. MIAA fans can attend the 2024 Championship free of charge. All five matches will be streamed live, exclusively on The MIAA Network.
 
Nebraska Kearney captured its first-ever MIAA regular season title in women's tennis with a league record of 7-1. The Lopers earn a first-round bye in the championship tournament and will take on the winner of the No. 4 and No. 5 seed match-up.
 
Missouri Western, Northwest Missouri and Washburn each tied for the league's runner-up with MIAA records of 6-2. Based on the Association's tie-breaker protocol, the Griffons claimed the No. 2 seed over the Bearcats and Ichabods and also receive a first-round bye in the tournament.
 
Northwest tabbed the No. 3 seed and will take on No. 6-seeded Northeastern State in the MIAA quarterfinals on Friday. The winner of the match will advance to take on Missouri Western in MIAA semifinals on Saturday. Washburn will be the No. 4 seed in the bracket and will face No. 5-seeded Central Oklahoma on Friday.  The winner of that quarterfinal contest will advance to meet the Lopers in Saturday's semifinals.
