Northwest Missouri State University sprinter
Tiffany Hughey has been named the MIAA Women's Outdoor Track Athlete of the Week.
Hughey (Lee's Summit, Mo.) competed on the national stage Friday at the John McDonnell Invitational at the University of Arkansas in the 200m and 400m dashes. Hughey did not disappoint as she shattered the school record in the 400 and set a new personal best time in the 200 in Fayetteville, Ark.
In the 400, Hughey secured sixth place with a school record time of 52.74 seconds. Hughey's time ranks her third in Division II and first in the MIAA this season. Continuing her dominance, Hughey blazed through the 200, setting a new personal best time of 23.66 seconds and claiming tenth place. Hughey's time places her second on Northwest's record board for the event, just behind
Hiba Mahgoub's record of 23.25 seconds. Hughey's 200 time ranks No. 17 in the nation this season. It ranks No. 3 in the MIAA. Both of Hughey's stellar performances at the John McDonnell Invite secured 2024 NCAA Division II provisional times.
It is the third time this season Hughey has earned the MIAA's women's track athlete of the week honor - twice indoors and once outdoors.
