The Northwest Missouri State University baseball team will play host to the No. 8-ranked Missouri Southern Lions in a three-game MIAA series beginning Thursday and culminating Saturday.

The Bearcats (13-17 overall, 5-12 MIAA) have won two straight heading into Thursday's opener against the Lions. Missouri Southern is 27-6 overall and 14-3 in MIAA play. The Lions have also won two straight games leading into the series with the Bearcats.

Northwest scored an 11-9 win at Rogers State to complete its weekend series in Claremore, Okla., on Saturday. Northwest followed that win up with another triumph Wednesday afternoon at home over the Washburn Ichabods, 7-6.

Bearcat reliever Jacob Gajic earned the win at Rogers State and claimed his fourth save of the season by working the final two innings against the Ichabods. Gajic is 2-3 with four saves on the season. He has struck out 33 batters in 31 innings of work. Gajic has posted 13 career saves, which ties him for No. 4 on the all-time saves chart at Northwest.

Ryan Williams leads the Bearcats with 43 hits, including 17 extra-base hits. Williams is batting .387 with 28 runs scored and 23 RBI. He has drawn a team-best 23 walks and possesses a .500 on-base percentage. He has tallied 14 multi-hit games. He enters the Missouri Southern series on a six-game hitting streak.

Noah Bodenhausen is riding an eight-game hitting streak leading into the Missouri Southern series. Bodenhausen is hitting .324 with 36 hits and 31 runs scored. Bodenhausen is 10-of-12 in stolen bases.

Trey Morris tops the squad with 40 RBI. Morris is batting .352 with 43 hits, 23 runs scored and five home runs.
