ST. JOSEPH, Mo. - The Northwest Missouri State University men's tennis team opened up its dual season with a 4-2 victory over the University of Missouri-St. Louis at the Genesis Indoor Courts.
Northwest was able to take a 1-0 lead in doubles action by scoring wins at No. 1 and No. 3. The Bearcats top doubles team of
Andrea Zamurri and
Fillippo Piranomonte notched a 6-4 victory. The No. 3 team of
Mason Meier and
Martin Sanchez gained a 6-3 triumph.
The Bearcats produced singles wins at No. 1 from Zamurri, No. 3 from
Michael Delebois and No. 6
Vinnie Rodrigues.
Zamurri and Rodrigues won in straight sets, while Delebois was forced to a third-set super tiebreaker where he prevailed, 11-9.
