MARYVILLE, Mo. -- Four meet records, along with one Hughes Fieldhouse record, were shattered by the Northwest track and field teams to conclude the 2024 Bearcat Invite.
The Northwest Missouri State track and field teams excelled on their home track at the 2024 Bearcat Invite. Many records were broken by the Bearcats, along with a plethora of Div. II qualifying times. Northwest's women's 4x400 meter relay team posts a top Div. II time.
Track Events:
Mile (M): Grayson Tapp finished second in the men's mile at 4:15.34. In fourth place,
Alex Jackson crossed the line in 4:19.79.
Mile (W): Three Bearcats finished in the Top 5 in the women's mile.
Whitney Post took home the crown with a final time of 5:10.36. In third place,
Mayson Hartley crossed the finish line in 5:10.83. Finally, Kaitlyn Mlarnik finished in 4th place with a time of 5:11.55.
60mH (W): Ally Hammond finished in second place with a Div. II provisional qualifying time of 8.74 as
Hannah Hatzenbuehler finished fifth with a final time of 8.98.
60m Dash (M): Both
Enrico Cavagna and
Dominic Sedlacek posted new Bearcat Invite records and Div. II provisional times in the event, but Cavagna received the crown with a final time of 6.74 as Sedlacek finished with a time of 6.78, finishing third. Cavagna's time sets a new school record in the event.
60m Dash (W): Ally Hammond and
Lexie Gilbert posted new Div. II qualifying times with their performances in the women's 60-meter dash. Hammond finished second with a time of 7.59. On the other hand, Gilbert crossed the line in 7.65.
400m Dash (M): Prince Griffin took second place in the men's 400-meter dash with a blazing time of 47.46, a new Div. II qualifying time. In fifth place,
Gavyn Monday finished with a time of 48.23, another Div. II qualifying time.
400m Dash (W): Chloe Saenz etched a new Div. II provisional time in the women's 400-meter dash with a final time of 55.69.
800m run (M): A new Bearcat Invite and school record was met by
Maxime Touron in the men's 800-meter run. Touron's provisional qualifying time of 1:50.25 sits at No. 4 in all of Div. II.
Riley Witt received a third-place finish with a provisional qualifying time of 1:51.89. To round off the men's 800-meter run,
Charlie Kinslow's provisional qualifying time of 1:52.46 earned him a fifth-place finish.
800m run (W): Kaylee Harp's provisional time of 2:10.46 now sits No. 4 in all of Div. II, earning her a first-place finish at the Bearcat Invite. In third place,
Lydia McGlocklin posted another provisional time of 2:10.86.
Bailey Blake finished in fifth place but clocked in at 2:13.02 earning her a Div. II provisional qualifying time.
3000m run (M): Drew Atkins shattered a new Bearcat Invite record with a provisional time of 8:16.78 which now sits No. 24 in Div. II.
Tyler Blay received a fourth-place finish with a time of 8:29.73, as
Brandon Mundorf took home the fifth-place spot with a final time of 8:32.02.
3000m run (W): In second place,
Alyna Thibault crossed the finish line in 10:03.48 as teammate
Taylor McCreedy rounded off the third-place spot in 10:04.43.
Men's 4x400m relay: The quartet of
Prince Griffin,
Danny Jantzen,
Truman Hare, and
Gavyn Monday received a first-place finish in the men's 4x400 meter relay with a final time of 3:11.12. Northwest's 'A' posted a new provisional qualifying mark with its performance, also sitting No. 4 in all of Div. II.
Women's 4x400m relay: A new Hughes Fieldhouse record, Bearcat Invite record, and a Div. II provisional qualifying time was set by Northwest's 'A' team consisting of
Chloe Saenz,
Luisarys Toledo,
Kaylee Harp, and
Tiffany Hughey. The final time of 3:37.43 now sits at the very top of all of Div. II. and second in Bearcat history. The quartet of
Jaedy Commins,
Bailey Blake,
Federica Lega, and
Haley Luna finished with another Div. II provisional time of 3:52.54.
