TOPEKA, Kan. -- The Northwest Missouri State track and field squads rounded off the 2024 MIAA Indoor Championships with six event champions. Bearcat women finished in second with 108 points and the men finished third with 75.5 points.
Field Events
Triple Jump (M):
Drew Beachler finished 13th with a final mark of 14.01 meters (45-11.75).
Running Events
Mile run (M):
Nate Mueller took the bronze in the event, with a provisional time of 4:09.04.
Grayson Tapp placed ninth with a time of 4:15.62, and
Riley Witt finished 17th with a time of 4:22.35.
Mile run (W):
Alyna Thibault (5:00.56) placed second, just behind Pittsburg State's Kate Dawson (5:00.29).
Taylor McCreedy finished in fourth place with a time of 5:07.39.
Whitney Post crossed the finish line in 5:09.88, placing seventh.
Kaitlyn Mlnarik placed 15th with a final time of 5:14.11.
60-meter H (W):
Ally Hammond set a new provisional time of 8.52, earning her a second-place finish in the event.
Hannah Hatzenbuehler placed eighth with a final time of 9.11.
60-meter dash (W): Hammond added to her day with a fourth-place finish, crossing the line with a provisional time of 7.46.
Lexie Gilbert placed eighth with another provisional time of 7.64.
400-meter dash (M): Neck and neck in the men's 400-meter dash,
Prince Griffin fell short of the crown by .01. Griffin's time of 47.62 sets a new provisional mark.
400-meter dash (W): The duo of
Tiffany Hughey and
Chloe Saenz controlled the event going one and two, with Hughey's record-breaking time of 52.65. Hughey's final time was a new MIAA Indoor Championship record, Washburn Athletic Facility record, Northwest track and field school record, eighth-fastest all-time time in Div. II, and now sits at the top of Div. II in the event this season. Coming in second place, Saenz finished with a provisional time of 55.25.
600-yard run (M):
Logan Arellano placed seventh with a final time of 1:17.40.
600-yard run (W): Four Bearcats placed in the event.
Jadyn Barnes led the Northwest charge with a new Washburn Athletic facility record time of 1:23.10. Barnes' time now sits at No. 5 in Bearcat history.
Federica Lega took the third-place spot with a time of 1:23.43. Lega's time now sits just beneath Barnes at No. 6 in Bearcat history.
Haley Luna (1:26.61) and
Jaedy Commins (1:26.80) finished in the seventh and eighth spots.
800-meter run (M):
Maxime Touron (1:50.99) took home the event crown with the second-fastest time in school history, just beneath his school record time of 1:50.25. Touron's time is a new provisional time.
Charlie Kinslow took the fifth-place spot with a final time of 1:52.86.
800-meter run (W):
Luisarys Toledo took the event crown with a provisional time of 2:11.01. Toledo's time now sits at No. 21 in Div. II this season.
Lydia McGlocklin (2:11.70) and
Kaylee Harp (2:12.49) each provided provisional marks, placing third (McGlocklin) and fifth (Harp).
200-meter dash (M):
Joel Dos Santos provided the No. 16 time in Div. II and new Northwest school record of 21.27.
Truman Hare took the third-place spot with another provisional time of 21.31. Hare's time is a new personal record, yet now sits just beneath Dos Santos' new school record time.
200-meter dash (W):
Lexie Gilbert placed seventh with a provisional time of 24.64.
3000-meter run (M):
Drew Atkins took the second-place finish with a provisional time of 8:15.58. Atkins' time is a new personal record, yet still sits at No. 2 behind teammate
Reece Smith's 8:00.96.
Tyler Blay received an eighth-place finish with a time of 8:33.43. Not too far behind,
Brandon Mundorf placed 11th with a time of 8:41.47.
3000-meter run (W):
Taylor McCreedy finished tenth with a time of 10:24.98, as
Mayson Hartley took the 14th spot with a final time of 10:29.35.
4x400-meter relay (M): The quartet of
Danny Jantzen,
Christian Lanphier,
Zach Pittman, and
Enrico Cavagna posted a provisional time of 3:14.14, placing fourth in the event.
4x400-meter relay (W): The quartet of
Federica Lega,
Peyton Holmes,
Jaedy Commins, and
Chloe Saenz posted another provisional time of 3:51.40, placing sixth.
