Bearcats highlight Friday Night Lights - Last Chance Meet

The Northwest Missouri State track and field teams put together impressive results at the Friday Night Lights - Last Chance Meet inside Hughes Fieldhouse.

Field Events
Long jump (W): Kyah Luhring posted a final mark of 5.33 meters (17-06.00) to claim a third-place finish in the event. Grace Hill posted a mark of 5.10 meters (16-08.75) to place sixth.  

High jump (M): Jeremiah Rainey-Dunlap took the crown in the men's high jump with a final mark of 1.87 meters (6-01.50). 

Shot put (W): Quinn Weakley took the fourth place finish with a final throw of 12.22 meters (40-01.25). 

Weight Throw (W): Alli Poage finished eighth with a throw of 10.77 meters (35-04.00). 

Running Events
60-meter dash (W): Four Bearcats placed in the top 10 in the women's 60-meter dash. Lexie Gilbert took a first-place finish with a time of 7.66. Peyton Holmes finished with a time of 7.89, placing her fourth. Jaurdin Mallory finished in seventh place with a final time of 7.99. In ninth place, Reese Brown crossed the line in 8.07.

60-meter dash (M): Taking home the men's 60-meter dash, Enrico Cavagna with a final time of 6.87. Quinn Gruver finished in eleventh place with a time of 7.29. 

400-meter dash (W): Haley Luna finished in second place, crossing the finish line in 58.63. 

400-meter dash (M): Five Bearcats placed in the top 10 in the event. Gayvn Monday posted a provisional time of 48.40 to take the third-place spot. Logan Arellano finished in fourth with a time of 48.98. Danny Jantzen placed fifth with a time of 49.09. In sixth place, Zach Pittman crossed the finish line in 49.24. Mason Swaney finished in the tenth spot with a time of 50.53. 

Mile run (W): Lydia McGlocklin (5:02.59) and Kaitlyn Mlnarik (5:05.92) went one-and-two in the women's mile. Breelie Mauro crossed the line in 5:14.99, receiving a fourth-place finish. Amanda Seggerman placed sixth with a final time of 5:30.60. 

800-meter run (W): Bailey Blake was the lone Bearcat in the event, yet taking the crown with a final time of 2:12.22. Blake's time qualifies as a Div. II provisional mark. 

800-meter run (M): Matt Goeckel placed third with a time of 1:59.82, as Tucker Abrams was right behind in fourth with a time of 2:01.43. 

600-yard run (W): Three Bearcats went back-to-back-to-back in the women's 600-yard run. Jadyn Barnes took the top spot with a time of 1:24.87. In second place, Federica Lega posted a time of 1:25.47. In third place, Jaedy Commins crossed the finish line in 1:26.22. 

600-yard run (M): Christian Lanipher took the crown with a final time of 1:12.01. Behind Lanipher in second place was Xavier Horn with a time of 1:13.73. 

200-meter dash (W): Reese Brown placed sixth with a time of 26.47. 

200-meter dash (M): Truman Hare (21.53) and Joel Dos Santos (21.63) both posted Div. provisional qualifying marks in the event. Hare won the event, as Dos Santos took the second-place spot. 

3000-meter run (M): Matt Goeckel placed seventh, crossing the finish line in 9:43.55. 

Northwest's track and field teams will next travel to Topeka, Kan. for the 2024 MIAA Indoor Track and Field Championships on Friday, Feb. 23 - Sunday, Feb. 25.
