BEARCATS BACK HOME TO HOST HILLCATS, RIVERHAWKS
The Northwest Missouri State women's basketball team (18-5 overall, 12-5 MIAA) returns to Bearcat Arena for a pair of conference matchups in Rogers State (United Fiber Night) on Thursday and Northeastern State (Senior Day) on Saturday.
On Thursday, T-shirts will be available for the first 250 fans.
NORTHWEST VS ROGERS STATE
The first time these two teams met this season was on Jan. 6 with Northwest going into Claremore and coming out with a 63-42 win. In that game,
Caely Kesten piled up 14 points, seven rebounds and three assists. As a team, Northwest forced 22 turnovers.
Northwest has matched up with Rogers State eight times in history, winning all eight.
SCOUTING THE HILLCATS
The Hillcats come into Thursday's match up with an overall record of 9-13 and 4-12 in conference play. Rogers State is coming off a road loss at Northeastern State, 61-49.
Alayzha Knapp leads the Hillcats in scoring with 17.0 PPG, which ranks No. 2 in the MIAA. With Knapp's scoring, she also secures 6.1 rebounds per contest. Knapp leads the team this season in total points (373) and three-pointers made (32).
As a team, Rogers State ranks sixth in scoring defense, holding opponents to 61.1 PPG.
NORTHWEST VS NORTHEASTERN STATE
Northwest and Northeastern State matched up this season on Jan. 4 with Northwest battling back to a 71-69 victory in Tahlequah.
Jayna Green set a new season-high 17 points, as
Molly Hartnett recorded a double-double with 10 points and 12 assists.
Northwest holds a 8-10 all-time record, with a 5-4 record inside Bearcat Arena.
SCOUTING THE RIVERHAWKS
Northeastern State goes into Missouri Western with an overall record of 12-10 and 8-8 in conference play before heading to Maryville on Saturday.
The RiverHawks are riding a three-game winning streak against Emporia State, Washburn and Rogers State.
The RiverHawks have three players averaging double-figures on the season; Halie Jones (12.7 PPG), Courtney Lee (11.7 PPG), and Tor'e Alford (10.8 PPG).
As a team, Northeastern State ranks No.9 in the MIAA, just beneath Northwest in scoring offense (65.4 PPG). The RiverHawks sit at No. 2 in 3PT percentage at 35.7 percent.
GREEN REJECTS SEVEN SHOTS AT WASHBURN
Senior Forward
Jayna Green blocked a career-high seven shots in a 62-50 win at Washburn. With Green's defensive performance, she is tied for No. 3 in Bearcat history for blocks in a single game. Green's seven blocks is tied for ninth-most by a player this season in NCAA Div. II women's basketball.

Northwest will recognize six Bearcats as part of the senior class;

Savannah Guenther.
Molly Hartnett, an Overland Park, Kan. native, has spent all four seasons with the Bearcat basketball team averaging 13.0 points up to this point in her career. Hartnett was named MIAA Freshman of the Year, MIAA honorable mention, and started all 22 games as a freshman. Was an MIAA honorable mention selection in year two. During the 2022-23 season, Molly was named all-MIAA third team and led the Bearcats in scoring with 13.6 PPG and became the 29th player in Northwest history to reach 1,000 career points. This year, Harnett leads the team in points, assists, and tied in steals thus far. Molly is 55 points away from reaching the top 10 in Bearcat history in career points with 1,349.
Caely Kesten, a Denver, Colo. native, has spent four seasons with the Bearcats, averaging a career-best 11.5 points this season and a total of 581 in her career. Kesten played in 74 games throughout her Bearcat career and has started in all 23 games this year. Caely scored a career-high 24 points against Missouri Western on Jan. 13.
Jillian Fleming, a Liberty, Mo. native, has spent all four years with the Northwest women's basketball team. Fleming has played in 76 games, making 14 starts, and has totaled 285 points and 114 rebounds in her career.
Emma Atwood, a Leon, Iowa native, has spent five years with the Bearcat women's basketball program. Atwood redshirted her first year and had an unfortunate season-ending knee injury to prevent her sophomore season from continuing. Atwood has piled up 373 points, 331 rebounds, and 60 assists in her career.
Jayna Green, an Omaha, Neb. native, received a MIAA all-defensive team last year and currently has the top spot in Bearcat history in career blocks with 182. Green accumulated seven blocks in a recent victory over Washburn on Feb. 10. Green has piled up 680 points, 638 rebounds, and 163 assists as a Bearcat.
Savannah Guenther, a Grayslake, Ill. native, served three seasons on the Northwest Missouri State women's basketball team. Guenther red-shirted her freshman year and saw action in nine games in two seasons with the Bearcats. Guenther came back with the team during her senior season as a student assistant and is currently a Graduate Assistant for the team.
