KEARNEY, Neb. - The No. 17-ranked Northwest Missouri State University women's tennis team produced a 7-0 sweep of Colorado Mesa on Saturday.
The Bearcat women moved to 2-0 behind a strong effort in doubles and singles.
Northwest swept the doubles competition and dropped only five games in the three matches.
The Bearcats then had five players earn straight-sets triumphs in singles play led by No. 1
Carolina Lima De Oliveira with a 6-1, 6-2 victory.
Tessa Kwakernaak notched a 6-2, 6-0 win at No. 2 singles.
Marielena Muench secured a 6-1, 6-1 win at No. 4 singles.
Laura Prieto Sieiro came through with a 6-3, 6-2 victory at No. 5 singles. Anglea per Moreno tallied a 6-1, 6-0 triumph at No. 6 singles.Â
Sofia Pignataro was pushed to a third-set super-tiebreaker before she prevailed 6-1, 6-7 (7-9), 1-0 (10-8).
