Bearcat WBB tabbed third in MIAA preseason polls

KANSAS CITY, Mo. -- Following a 23-win season—fourth-most in program history—and their first NCAA Division II tournament appearance since 2011, the Northwest Missouri State University women's basketball team has been picked to finish third in the MIAA for the 2024-25 season.
 
The Bearcats earned two first-place votes from MIAA coaches and one vote from the media.
 
MIAA Basketball Coaches Polls (2024-25 Preseason)Last season, Northwest finished second in the MIAA, falling to Fort Hays State in the semifinals of the MIAA tournament. The Bearcats then fell to the Tigers once more in the opening round of the NCAA Division II tournament. Northwest's 20+ win season marked the ninth occurrence in the program history .Head coach Austin Meyer is back for his seventh season, totaling up 82 wins. Meyer has also brought in assistant coach Daryle Tucker for the 2024-25 campaign. 
 
Northwest will open its season at the D2CCA Tip-Off Classic in St. Joseph, Mo., taking on the Ashland University Eagles on Saturday, Nov. 2, at 3:30 p.m.
