JEFFERSON CITY, Mo. -- The Northwest Missouri State women's basketball team completed its two-game road trip with a 62-52 win against the Lincoln Blue Tigers.Â
Sophomore guard
Lindsey Kelderman produced a new season-high 17 points.
Caely Kesten also piled up 15 points.Â
It was an unusual start to the game as
Molly Hartnett knocked in two technical free throws to give the Bearcats a 2-0 lead before the opening tip-off.
Lindsey Kelderman knocked in Northwest's first triple of the game at the 5:34 mark. Hartnett buried a wide-open three with 25 seconds left to give Northwest a 14-6 lead at the end of the first quarter.Â
Lindsey Kelderman had the hot hand in the first half with a game-high 13 points on 4-of-5 shooting as Northwest ended the half on a 10-0 run and led 29-13. The Bearcats held Lincoln to 6-of-28 (21.4 percent) from the floor and forced 11 turnovers.Â
The Blue Tigers trimmed the Bearcat lead down to seven with 1:45 in the third quarter, but then
Peyton Kelderman put up a big shot that gave Northwest a double-digit lead with a minute to go. Lincoln's Steph Torres converted on a pull-up jumper as time expired to cut its deficit to five entering the final quarter of play.Â
Northwest outscored Lincoln 19-14 in the final quarter to come out with a victory in Jefferson City.Â
The Bearcats forced Lincoln over 22 times and also held them to 4-of-14 from long range. Northwest won the rebounding battle 35-32.Â
The Bearcats improve to 15-4 overall and 9-4 in the MIAA as Lincoln drops to 6-13 overall, 2-11 in conference play.Â
