Bearcats prevail at Coach Richard Alsup Open

MARYVILLE, Mo. -- The Northwest Missouri track and field teams took part in the 2024 Coach Richard Alsup Open with plenty of outstanding performances. 

Shot put (W): Quinn Weakley took fifth place in the women's shot put with a throw of 13.05m (42' 9 3/4")

Long jump (W): Anna Gladstone took home second place in the women's long jump with a mark of 5.27m (17' 3 1/2"). Shelby Butterfield placed right behind Gladstone in third place with a jump of 5.23m (17' 2"). 

High Jump (M): Blake Morgan marked a new Div. II Provisional mark with a jump of  2.10m (6' 10 3/4")

5000m (W): Three Bearcats finished in the Top 5 of the 5000 meter run. Taylor McCreedy took the first place spot with a final time of 17:52.46. Today, McCreedy's time ranks 60th in all Div—II times in the event. Shelby Harris earned a third-place finish with a final time of 18:50.87. Amanda Seggerman placed fifth at 19:11.67

5000m (M): Tyler Blay's second place time (14:52.16) would have been a new meet record without Iowa Western's Geoffrey Ronoh's meet and fieldhouse record of 13:49.47. 

Mile run (W): Alyna Thibault continued her dominance with a first-place finish in the mile run with a time of 4:57.73. Mayson Hartley earned a fourth-place finish with a time of 5:07.62. Whitney Post posted a sixth-place finish with a time of 5:11.97. 

Mile run (M): Northwest went two, three, and four in the men's mile. Maxime Touron placed second in the men's mile run with a time of -  4:05.21. Nate Mueller placed third with a time of 4:05.45 and Riley Witt in fourth with a final time of 4:09.83. Touron and Mueller's times are a Div. II provisional time. 

60m H (W): Ally Hammond placed second with a time of 8.74, securing a Div. II provisional time. 

60m dash (W): Ally Hammond and Lexie Gilbert placed second and third in the 60-meter dash. Hammond ran a time of 7.62 and Gilbert finished with a time of 7.79. Hammond time records another Div. II provisional time. 

60m dash (M): Dominic Sedlacek's final time of 6.77 is a new Coach Alsup Open record as he placed first in the event. Sedlacek's time qualifies as a Div. II Provisional time. Enrico Cavagna placed third by thousandths of a second with a time of 6.78. Cavagna's time also qualifies as a Div. II provisional time. 

400m (W): Tiffany Hughey secures a new meet record with a blistering time of 53.34. Hughey's time is also a new career best in the event. Chloe Saenz finished second with a time of 56.30.

400M (M): Prince Griffin (47.61) took home the crown in the men's 400 meters, receiving a Div. II provisional time. Gavyn Monday finished with a time of 48.20 earning him a second place spot. Monday's time is also another Div. II provisional time. 

800m (W): Luisarys Toledo took home the 800-meter crown with a Div. II provisional time of 2:13.05. Kaylee Harp (2:14.02) and Lydia McGlocklin (2:14.28) finished third and fourth in the event. Both Harp and McGlocklin's times are Div. II provisional times. Bailey Blake rounded off the fifth-place spot with a time of 2:14.90. 

800m (M): Maxime Touron placed third with a time of 1:53.46.

600y (W): Haley Luna placed third with a time of 1:25.93 and Jaedy Commins placed fifth with a time of 1:26.35. 

600y (M): Zach Pittman placed fifth in the men's 600-yard dash with a time of 1:13.11. 

200m (W): Tiffany Hughey took home the 200-meter dash event with a blistering time of 24.07. Hughey's time is a Div. II provisional time. 

200m (M): Enrico Cavagna finished the 200 meters in 21.78, bringing home the crown. Cavagna's time currently sits 24th in all of Div. II. 

3000m (M): Drew Atkins brought home the gold in the men's 3000-meter run with a new personal best time of 8:18.20. Atkins' time is the 12th best in Div. II. Dillon Grover placed fifth with a time of 8:29.51, also a new personal best. 

4X400m relay (W): The quartet of Whitney Post, Taylor McCreedy, Lydia McGlocklin, and Alyna Thibault finished fourth with a time of 4:05.08.
