Steady dose of Dreamer lifts No. 24 'Cats over Jets, 76-47

MARYVILLE, Mo. - The No. 24-ranked Northwest Missouri State University men's basketball team benefited from a 25-point effort from Wes Dreamer in a 76-47 home win over the Newman University Jets.

Northwest recorded its seventh straight home win and moved its overall season mark to 13-4. The Bearcats lead the MIAA standings at 9-2 with a one game lead over Missouri Western, Fort Hays State and Washburn. Newman dropped to 6-11 overall and 3-9 in league action.

Northwest used a 27-1 run and held Newman to no made field goals over an 11-minute span in the second half. The Jets pulled to within seven on four occasions early in the second half before the Bearcats put the game away. Northwest tied a season-high with 12 made three-pointers. 

Dreamer came to life in the second-half spurt after being held to four points in the first half. Dreamer buried 8-of-11 second-half shots and was perfect from beyond in the arc in three attempts. Dreamer accounted for 21 second-half points, while the Jets posted 23 as a team.

Junior Mitch Mascari buried four three-pointers for the second straight game. Mascari's 12-point night was his sixth double-figure scoring effort of the season.

Junior Isaiah Jackson stuffed his stat sheet with 10 points, eight assists, seven rebounds, two steals and a block. Jackson knocked in both of his three-point field goal attempts. Both of his triples came in the first three-plus minutes of the contest as Northwest broke out to a 12-0 lead.

Northwest came out firing by hitting on five of its first six three-point attempts. Northwest had an 18-4 lead with 14:31 to play in the first half. 

The Bearcats will return to action Thursday at Central Missouri and Saturday at Lincoln.
