The Northwest Missouri State University women's soccer team (3-3-2 overall, 0-1-0 MIAA) will take road trips to Hays, Kan., and Kearney, Neb., this weekend in MIAA action.
The Bearcats will face off against the Fort Hays State Tigers (5-1-2 overall, 1-0-0 MIAA) on Friday, Sept. 29, at 7 p.m. Fort Hays State took the last match between the two dating back to last year by a score of 1-0. FHSU owns an 8-2-1 lead in the all-time series with Northwest.
On Sunday, Oct. 1, Northwest soccer will travel to Kearney, Neb., for a matchup with the Lopers (1-7-0 overall, 0-1-0 MIAA). In its last matchup with UNK, Northwest came away with a 4-0 victory. Northwest also holds the 4-3-3 all- time record against the Lopers.
Senior Kaylie Rock leads the Bearcats in goals (4), points (10), shots (31) and shots-on-goal (17) this season. Rock tallied the game-winning goal in a 4-0 win over Missouri Southern and she added an assist against the Lions. Rock got off three shots-on-goal in a 3-0 loss to No. 12-ranked Central Missouri on Sunday.
Sophomore goalkeeper Lily Ellis recorded her 14th career shutout as she posted a clean sheet against the Missouri Southern Lions. MSSU fired 12 shots with seven on-goal and Ellis saved all seven. On Sunday, Ellis was credited with five saves in a 3-0 setback against the No. 12-ranked Jennies. Over the two games, Ellis made 12 saves to give her 98 saves in her Bearcat career. Ellis ranks No. 9 on Northwest's all-time saves chart.
JunIor Adell Gore is knocking on the door for both the top-10 lists at Northwest for goals and assists. Gore has posted 10 career goals and seven career assists as a Bearcat. Her next goal and next assist will move her into the top-10 on each Northwest career chart.
Freshman Ximena Arnau is tops on the team in assists (3).
Northwest is No. 2 in the league in corner kicks per match at 6.75, trailing only Central Missouri's league-leading average of 6.88 corner kicks per match. Northwest set a school record with 18 corner kicks in a 4-0 triumph over Sioux Falls on Sept. 10.
Northwest is ranked No. 7 in this week's United Soccer Coaches Central Region rankings.
