BOLIVAR, Mo. - The Northwest Missouri State women's golf team took to the course Tuesday for the final round of the Drury Panther Invitational held at Silo Ridge Country Club.
Northwest Junior
Madilyne Schlaepfer took the individual title, firing a final round 71 (-1).
Schlaepfer started the day tied for 23rd and five shots back of the leader, but after firing the only under par score of the day she quickly moved to the top of the leaderboard edging Taryn Overstreet of Drury and Sam Maceli of Northeastern State by one stroke. Schlaepfer shot even on the front nine and turned the burners on the back, birding hole 10 and hole 16 en route to a closing 35 (-1). Schlaepfer tallied rounds of 79 and 71 for a two-day total of 150 (+6) which is the sixth best two-round total in program history.
Schlaepfer is the 16th medalist in Bearcat History and the seventh different Bearcat to win a tournament.
Northwest moved up four spots on the team leader board in round two, moving up to eighth out of 16 teams after starting the day in 12th. Northwest posted a second-round 308 (+20) and finished 21 strokes better than round one.
Senior
Elly Speece finished tied for 36th following a second-round 78 (+6), Speece tallied a two-day total of 161.
Paige Hoffman tied for 40th after rounds of 82 and 80 (+18).
Northwest will be back on the course Sept. 25-26 at the MIAA Central Region Fall Preview at Hillcrest Country Club in Bartlesville, Okla.
