Bearcat women claim the program's third MIAA Outdoor Track and Field championship

JEFFERSON CITY, Mo. – The Northwest Missouri State University track and field team closed out the 2023 MIAA Outdoor Championships with new school records and a women's team title. The women have claimed the MIAA Outdoor title twice before this year with one in 1997 and one in 1998. This year, the women finished the championships first overall with 137 points. The men's team took fifth place with 82 points.
 
Luisarys Toledo was the high point scorer of the meet after outstanding performances and two MIAA crowns in the women's long jump and the women's 400 meter dash.
 
Northwest had a fantastic showing in the women's 400 meter dash claiming four of the top five times. Luisarys Toledo was crowned with the first place finish with a time of 53.55. Tiffany Hughey claimed third in 53.95, Chloe Saenz took fourth in 54.73, and Kennedi Cline took fifth with a time of 55.22.
 
Luisarys ToledoIn the women's 800 meter run Kaylee Harp claimed the title with a finishing time of 2:10.07. Bailey Blake earned second with a time of 2:11.36, and Lydia McGlocklin took fifth with a time of 2:13.27 which is a new personal best.
 
Reece Smith took the title in the men's 5000 meter run earning a time of 15:07.75. Drew Atkins finished third overall with a time of 15:16.55.
 
The women's 4x400 meter relay team of Chloe Saenz, Kaylee Harp, Kennedi Cline, and Tiffany Hughey claimed the title in the event as they crossed the finish line in 3:38.69.
 
The men's 4x100 meter relay team of Dominic Sedlacek, Joel Dos Santos, Prince Griffin, and Enrico Cavagna set a new school record as they finished second and clocked in at 40.00.
 
The women's 4x100 meter relay team also took second with a time of 45.88 which is just two hundredths of a second from the school record. The team consisted of Lexie Gilbert, Tiffany Hughey, Kennedi Cline, and Ally Hammond.
 
Joel Dos Santos took third in the men's 100 meter dash as he recorded a time of 10.34, which marks a new school record.
 
Ally Hammond claimed third in the women's 100 meter dash as she clocked in at 11.40 marking a new school record.
 
In the men's 400 meter dash Prince Griffin earned third with a time of 47.55 and R.J. Williams finished fifth in 47.95.
 
Luisarys Toledo earned a third place finish in the women's 200 meter dash recording a time of 23.97 and setting a new personal best. Tiffany Hughey placed fifth in the event clocking in at 24.08, and Kennedi Cline finished sixth with a time of 24.11 which is her personal best.
 
The men's 4x400 meter relay team of R.J. Williams, Gavyn Monday, Danny Jantzen and Prince Griffin took third overall with a time of 3:10.96.
 
Caroline Cunningham finished fourth in the women's 5000 meter run with a time of 18:05.14.
 
Kemuel Sloan finished fourth in the men's triple jump with a distance of 47' 10.75" (14.60m).
 
Jaedy Commins finished fifth in the women's 400 meter hurdles with a time of 1:01.39.
 
In the women's 100 meter hurdles Ally Hammond placed sixth (14.33) and Sarah Prickett placed eighth (14.46).
 
In the men's high jump Blake Morgan finished sixth (6' 9") and Johnathan Carter tied for tenth (6' 6").
 
Joel Dos Santos finished seventh in the men's 200 meter dash as he recorded a time of 21.45.
 
In the women's 1500 meter run Alyna Thibault finished eighth (4:43.09), Lydia McGlocklin finished ninth with a new personal best (4:43.21), and Whitney Post finished 12th (4:46.21).
 
Quinn Weakley finished ninth in the women's shot put with a mark of 42' 5" (12.93m).
 
Riley Witt finished 10th in the men's 1500 meter run as he earned a time of 3:56.63. Witt finished eighth in the men's 800 meter run with a time of 1:59.32.
 
Antonio Perez finished 10th in the men's discus throw with a distance of 150' 9" (45.95m).
