The Northwest Missouri State University track and field teams capped their 2023 NCAA Division II Outdoor Track and Field national championships with the Bearcat women winning the 4x400-meter relay with a school-record time on Saturday in Pueblo, Colo.

 The Bearcats wrapped up the three-day meet with 26 All-America efforts with 15 on the women's side and seven from the men with 11 All-America efforts over the three-day meet in Pueblo, Colo. The Bearcat women finished 13th in the team standings with 22 points. The Northwest men placed 22nd in the final team standings with 14 points.

The Bearcat women's 4x400 relay team of
Chloe Saenz,
Luisarys Toledo,
Kaylee Harp and
Tiffany Hughey came through with a national championship in the final event in Pueblo.
Jaedy Commins ran in the 4x400 qualifying to also earn All-America status. The Bearcat quartet set a new school record at 3:33.44 and finished off an indoor/outdoor double as national champions in both disciplines this year. The indoor team that won the title consisted of Saenz, Toledo,
Kennedi Cline and Hughey.

It is the first time a Bearcat women's outdoor relay team has won the national championship.

The women's 4x100 relay took eighth place to capture All-America accolades. The team of

Tiffany Hughey,
Chloe Saenz and
Ally Hammond posted a finals time of 45.40 to add a team point for the Bearcat women.

The Bearcat men's 4x100 relay captured eighth place to earn All-America status and a team point. The quartet of
Dominic Sedlacek,
Joel Dos Santos,
Prince Griffin and
Enrico Cavagna tallied a time 39.79Â on Saturday night.

Sophomore
Luisarys Toledo gained her second All-America honor of the championships with an eighth-place tally in the women's 400-meter dash. Toledo posted a time of 54.04 to add another team point for the Bearcat women.

A pair of Bearcat juniors garnered All-America honors in the women's 800-meter run.
Kaylee Harp took seventh with a time of 2:10.54, while
Bailey Blake placed ninth with a clocking of 2:10.74. For Harp, she earned her second All-America status this spring after she placed 12
th at the NCAA indoor championships. Blake gained her first outdoor All-America honor to go along with four indoor All-America accolades in her Bearcat career. Harp's seventh-place finish gave the Northwest women two team points in the meet.

Junior
Reece Smith charged his way from the back of the field to a sixth-place finish in the 5,000-meter run to earn another All-America accolade for the Bearcat distance runner. Smith was in 19th place following the first 1,800 meters of the race. Smith put up an incredible 1:02.42 final lap time to move his way into the sixth position to tally three team points for the Bearcats. Smith collected his fourth outdoor All-America honor and sixth overall to go along with two indoor All-America nods.

Senior
Dakota Schmidt completed his collegiate career with a 16th-place finish in the men's javelin. He ranked No. 7 in the first heat of throwers with his best toss coming on his first mark of 60.40m (190'2"). Schmidt's second throw went 58.12m (190'8") and his third mark measured at 59.08m (193'10"). He finishes his Bearcat career as a two-time NCAA outdoor All-America performer in the javelin. Schmidt placed 12th in 2021 and 11th in 2022.
Schmidt was named the outdoor meet's male recipient of the NCAA's Elite 90 Award.

Senior
Blake Morgan gained second-team All-America status with a 10th-place finish in the men's high jump. Morgan missed on his first two jumps of the competition at 2.04m (6'8.25") before clearing the bar in his this try. He then cleared the second height of 2.09m (6'10.25") on his first attempt. Morgan missed on all three of his attempts at 2.12m (6'11.5"). Morgan earned three previous All-America performances at the indoor meet. He placed fifth in 2021, seventh in 2023 and 12th in 2022 at the indoor national championship meets.
