ORLANDO, Fla. – The No. 8-seeded Northwest Missouri State University men's tennis team had an all-out battle on its hands Thursday against No. 9-seeded Cameron University in the NCAA Tournament before the Aggies prevailed, 4-1.

Northwest finishes its season with a dual mark of 15-7, while Cameron improves to 17-3. Northwest had scored a 4-3 win over Cameron when the teams met on March 7 in Lawton, Okla.

CU's Tomas Almeida and Thomas Cardona won a closely-fought 6-4 decision over Northwest's
Fillippo Piranomonte and
Andrea Zamurri for the clinching point.

Northwest's
Fabien Calloud and
Jan Skerbatis were locked in a tight-knit affair with Cameron's Joao Duleba and Baptiste Mercier when the match was stopped with it tied 4-4 in a tiebreaker.

Cameron's Emilio Seelbach and Kristian Kubik breezed to a 6-1 win over Northwest's
Michael Delebois and
Mason Meier to take an early edge in the dual.

No. 13-ranked
Andrea Zamurri gained a 6-3, first-set win over CU's No. 17-ranked Tomas Almeida. Zamurri led 4-1 and worked his way to the 6-3 win in the opening set. Almedia turned the tables on Zamurri in the second with a 6-1 triumph to level the match at a set apiece. The third set was deadlocked at 2-2 when Cameron clinched the dual at No. 5 singles.

CU's No.57-ranked Thomas Cardona held a 5-3 lead over Northwest's No. 50-ranked
Michael Delebois in the first set. Delebois broke Cardona and leveled the set at 5-5. However, Cardona broke back and scored a 7-5 first-set win over Delebois. Cardona finished the match by winning 6-1 in the second set. Cardona's win put Cameron up 3-0 in the dual.

CU's Baptist Mercier made quick work of Northwest's No. 63-ranked
Fabien Calloud to take a 2-0 lead in the dual. Mercier won the opening set, 6-4, and then dispatched Calloud in the second, 6-1. The win gave Cameron a 2-0 lead in the dual.

Northwest's
Jan Skerbatis overcame a 5-3 deficit in the first set to run off four straight games and take the set, 7-5, over CU's Kristian Kubik. Skerbatis kept rolling in the second set by taking the first five games on his way to a 6-2 win. Skerbatis put the Bearcats on the board, trailing 3-1 to Cameron.

CU's Joao Duleba pulled out a 7-5 opening-set win over Northwest's
Mason Meier. Meier held a 2-1 lead in the second, but Duleba ran off five straight games to the set, 6-2, and clinched the dual victory for the Aggies.

Northwest's
Simon Birgerson gained the upper-hand early with a 6-3 triumph in the first set against CU's Alvaro Chavez. Simon bounced out to a 4-2 lead in the second before Chavez rallied to even the set at 5-5. Birgerson ended the run by Chavez and took a 6-5 advantage. Chavez held serve to force a tiebreaker, but the match was stopped as Cameron clinched the dual at No. 5 singles.
