MARYVILLE, Mo. - The Northwest Missouri State University baseball team came up on the short end of a 9-2 decision to the Missouri Western State University Griffons Thursday at the Bearcat Baseball Field.
Northwest jumped out to a 2-0 lead in the first when
Trey Morris launched a homer to left.
Ryan Koski had reached on a two-out error at third and Morris made the Griffons pay with the two-run shot.
However, the Griffons took advantage of a pair of four-run innings in the fifth and sixth to take control of the contest.
The Griffons out-hit the Bearcats, 15-4.

Game two is set for tomorrow at 2 p.m at the Bearcat Baseball Field.
