Alenicheva Named MIAA Women’s Tennis “A Game” Scholar Athlete

KANSAS CITY, Mo. – Northwest Missouri State University's Vera Alenicheva has been named the first-ever "A Game" Scholar award winner for the MIAA Women's Tennis Championship.
 
The "A Game" Scholar Award, presented by Mammoth Sports Construction and established by the MIAA, acknowledges the overall excellence of the student-athlete by recognizing one individual who has contributed to his or her team's success, while also achieving the highest academic standard among his or her peers.

Vera Alenicheva is a junior international student-athlete from Moscow, Russia. She owns a perfect 4.0 grade point average as a biochemistry major with 112 credits completed.

Alenicheva not only excelled in the classroom but on the court. Ranked No. 9 in the ITA singles rankings, Alenicheva tallied two All-MIAA accolades with First Team status at No. 2 doubles and Second Team honors at No. 2 singles. She has a singles mark of 16-5 and 6-2 in MIAA play. She and teammate Tessa Kwakernaak lead the Bearcat squad with a doubles record of 16-3.

Alenicheva will be honored with the MIAA "A Game" trophy, presented by Mammoth Sports Construction, Prior to the opening matches at the 2023 MIAA Women's Tennis Championship on Friday, April 21. The championship's first quarterfinal contest is schedule to begin at 4 p.m. at Edmond Center Court in Edmond, Okla.
