Luisarys Toledo has been honored as the MIAA Women's Outdoor Track Athlete of the week.
Toledo (Valencia, Venezuela) claimed four school records in the 400-meter dash, 800-meter run, long jump and 4x400-meter relay in her performances this weekend at the Bryan Clay Invitational and the Pacific Coast Invitational in California.
She ran 53.33 in the 400-meter dash at the Pacific Coast Invitational for the third-best time in the country and top time in the MIAA. Her 400-meter showing bested the previous Northwest school record set by Venus Harris in 1987.
She also put up the nation's fourth-best clocking in the 800-meter run (2:07.78) at the Bryan Clay Invitational, which also ranks as the best time in the MIAA this season.
She became the first Bearcat woman to surpass 20-feet in the long jump with a leap of 20'1" at the Bryan Clay Invitational. It ranks as the 8
th-best mark in the nation and the top jump in the MIAA. The previous record at Northwest was set by Emily Churchman, who went 19'7.5" in 2010.
Toledo ran the second leg of the 4x400-meter relay that put up the nation's best time at 3:35.51 at the Bryan Clay Invitational. The clocking ranks as the 16
th-best fastest time in NCAA Div. II women's history. She teamed up with
Chloe Saenz,
Kennedi Cline and
Tiffany Hughey for the school record.
