Bearcats set school record, finish fifth at Wildcat Classic

WAYNE, Ne. – The Northwest Missouri State women's golf team finished in fifth place and broke the 36-hole school record with a two-round total of 621 (+45) at the Wildcat Classic hosted at Wayne Country Club. The Bearcats carded a second round 306 (+18) which is the second best 18-hole score all-time in school history, Northwest finished 14 shots back of the champion, Augustana.
 
Paige Hoffman once again finished in the top-ten for the ninth time in her Bearcat career with a personal best tied for second finish. Hoffman tallied a second round 72 (E) and a two-round total of 147 (+3) which is now the fourth best two-round score in school history. The Sophomore from Des Moines was two under through the first three holes but after back-to-back bogeys on holes four and five she fell back to even through five, Hoffman would tally four birdies, four bogeys, and 10 pars to round out the round at even.
 
Elly Speece carded a career best two over 74 to finish eighth overall. Speece finished with a two-round total of 151 (+7), the Junior from Papillion, Nebraska carded a team high five birdies on the day.
 
Freshman Lauren Kohl was excellent as an individual for the Bearcats carding a career best 77 (+5) breaking her previous best from yesterday. Kohl carded a career best two round total of 156 (+12) to finish tied for 20th.
 
Lauren Wood fired a second round 81 (+9) finishing tied for 31st.
 
Up next for the Bearcats will be the MIAA Championships at Eagle Creek Golf Club in Joplin, Mo. next Monday through Wednesday.
