MARYVILLE, Mo. - The No. 14-ranked Quincy Hawks defeated the Northwest Missouri State Bearcats Wednesday at Bearcat Field, 9-2.

Casey Stalzer for the start on the mound. Stalzer entered the contest with an 0-2 record and an 8.17 ERA.
The Hawks jumped out to a 1-0 lead in the top of the first following an infield hit and an error on the left fielder.
Cole Slibowski led off the bottom of the first reaching on a catcher's interference and was ushered around to third base with two-down, but the Bearcats couldn't scratch him across.
Quincy's Dustin Dupont lifted a opposite field homerun to left field to lead off the second to bring the Hawks lead to 2-0.
Northwest cut the Quincy lead in half in the bottom of the second thanks to two-out RBI single from
Ryan Williams scoring
Caden Diel from second.
Quincy added another run in the third to bring their lead to 3-1 but would strand the bases loaded when
Casey Stalzer got Dupont to bounce into a 4-6-3 inning ending double play.
Alex Bowers and
Ryan Koski earned back-to-back walks to start the bottom half of the third, but a double play and a strikeout would end the threat for the Bearcats.
Alexander Lovin relieved Stalzer to start the fourth, Stalzer gave up three runs, two of the earned in 3.0 innings of work. Lovin would send the Hawks down in order, striking out two in the inning keeping the Quincy lead at 3-1.
The Hawks would tack three more on in the top of the fifth on a two-run homerun by Austin Simpson and an RBI walk to bring their lead to 6-1.
Kade Barrick would be called upon to get out of the bases loaded jam forcing a 4-6-3 double play to end the inning.
Trey Morris led off the bottom of the sixth with a walk followed by a single to left off the bat of freshman
Parker Griffith put runners on first and second with no one away, but a strikeout and double play would end the threat for the 'Cats.
Quincy boosted their lead to 9-1 after seven full innings of play.
Ryan Williams' second RBI single of the afternoon brought the Quincy lead within seven at 9-2 but the Bearcats couldn't get any more across.
Northwest falls to 8-28 overall and 6-18 in the MIAA.
Northwest will return to action Friday at 3 p.m. with a conference matchup with the Central Oklahoma Bronchos in Edmond, Okla.
