Softball set to host Central Oklahoma, Newman

The Northwest Missouri State University softball team will play host to Central Oklahoma and Newman this weekend at the Bearcat Softball Field.

Central Oklahoma leads the all-time series against Northwest, 36-11. The Bronchos have won nine straight games against the Bearcats with Northwest's last victory against UCO coming March 22, 2018.
 
Northwest has a 5-2 advantage in the all-time series against the Newman Jets. Northwest won the first five contests between the teams, but the Jets have won two straight since then. Northwest's most recent win over Newman came April 10, 2021.
 
Central Oklahoma holds the No. 1 spot in the MIAA softball standings with an overall record of 20-3 and a conference record of 4-0.
 
Northwest is 10th in the conference with an overall record of 15-11 and an MIAA record of 1-3.
 
Newman comes into the matchups last in the conference standings at 9-17 overall and 0-2 in conference play.
 
Pitcher Hayden Simmons is No. 7 in earned run average at 1.89 and No. 8 in opposing batting average at .216. She is eighth in batters struck out looking with 16.
 
Jadyn Streigle is ninth in the conference in innings pitched at 64.0.
 
Breck Dickey is 10th in the MIAA in batters struck out with 49.
 
As a team, Northwest is No. 3 in the conference in hitting with a team average of .320. The Bearcats have two players in the top 10 in the MIAA in hitting. Omara Love ranks No. 7 at .439 and Olivia Daugherty ranks No. 10 at .424.
 
Daugherty and Love both rank 4th in hits (36), and Lillie Filger ranks 10th (33).
 
Skylar Pieper is No. 2 in doubles with 11 and No. 10 in runs scored at 23. Love is eighth in doubles with nine.
 
Avery Anderson ranks No. 8 in sacrifice bunts with four this season.
 
Daugherty is second in RBIs with 32 and second in home runs as she has blasted nine this season.
