Bearcat comeback falls short in series finale with the Hornets

MARYVILLE, Mo. – The Northwest Missouri State baseball team dropped game three of their series with Emporia State in a high scoring affair, 13-11.
 
Northwest was in a big deficit early after Emporia State put up eight runs in the top of the fourth inning off Bearcat starter Alex Slocum.
 
The Bearcats answered back in the bottom of the fourth when Caden Diel drove in Ryan Koski and Evan Tocmo drove in Layne Shiers with a Sac-fly.
 
Northwest added four more in the bottom of the fifth on a Brady Miles double, a hit by pitch drawn by Layne Shiers, a Caden Diel single and an RBI fielder's choice from Evam Tocmo.
 
Tocomo led the Bearcats with three RBIs on the day, Diel added two more himself.
 
Northwest would get within one run at 8-7 in the bottom of the sixth inning thanks to a two-out RBI single by Trey Morris that scored Ryan Williams.
 
One run was the closest the Bearcats would get to the Hornets lead as the Hornets would take a 13-7 lead in the seventh following a solo home run and a grand slam by Chandler Bloomer.
 
Northwest answered back with a three run eighth inning propelled by a two-run single by Ryan Koski, Koski has a team best 25 RBIs and totaled a game high four hits.
 
Ryan Williams lifted a solo home run to left field in the bottom of the ninth to bring the Emporia State lead to 13-11 but Northwest couldn't scratch anymore across.
