PITTSBURG, Kan. – The Northwest Missouri State University baseball team picked up a 3-1 comeback win in game two of three with Pittsburg State.
Northwest moved to 4-15, 2-6 in MIAA play and Pittsburg State falls to 13-7, 5-3 in MIAA play.
Starter
Zach Wiese threw a gem going 5.2 innings giving up one run on six hits.
Jacob Gajic got the win and was outstanding out of the pen for the Bearcats, Gajic went 3.1 innings giving up no runs on one hit and striking out seven.
Northwest got on the board in the sixth inning thanks to an RBI sac bunt from
DJ Heck to knot the game at one.
Jacob Selock came up huge with a go head two out, two-run single to right field scoring
Caden Opfer and Lane Shiers to give the Bearcats the 3-1 lead.
Pittsburg State would put two runners on in the top of the ninth, but Gajic would escape the jam with a strikeout to end it.
Game three will start at 1 p.m. instead of the originally scheduled 12 p.m.. Northwest will once again be the home team on the scoreboard.
